Mr. Richardson is the son of Mrs. B. H. Richardson, also of Montgomery.. The wedding will be an event of December 22 in the First Presbyterian Church of this city at 12 noon. No formal invitations are be ing issued, but relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the ceremony. Oxley-Horper Announcement Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stephen Oxley of 5532 Stetson Road, Jacksonville, Fla., announce the engagement of their daughter, Virginia Gale, to Bernard War ren Harper, Jr., son of Mr. and Bernard Warren Harper of 4522 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville. The wedding is planned for January 29, 1964, at Grace Chap el Parish Episcopal Church. The bride-elect is the grand daughter of Mrs Wilton C. Oxley of this city. Miss Oxley is a graduate of Al fred I dupont High School, Jack sonville, Fla., and attended the University of Florida in Gaines ville, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha social so rority.. She is presently attending Jacksonville University and is a member of Beta Chi Alpha so rority where she is majoring in college psychology. ‘ Mr. Harper is a graduate of Alfred I. dupont High School and is presently majoring in Business Management at Jacksonville Uni versity. Kitchen Shower Honors Bride-Elect Saturday afternoon, November 23, Miss Delle Wilder, popular bride-elect was honor guest when Mrs. Rembert Truluck, Mrs. Shirley Timmons and Mrs. Ken neth Mann entertained at. the Truluck home with a kitchen shower. Upon arrival a white camellia corsage was given Miss Wilder. Camellias, roses arranged with sprigs of green were used to carry out a pink, white and green color note in the flowers and this color motif was also used in the flowers and refreshments. A salad, tea and a sweet course were served. Guests numbering about thirty played bridal bingo. The honor guest was showered with novel and useful kitchen articles. Luncheon Honors Miss Catherine Hart Miss Catherine deVeaux Hart was honored with a bridesmaids luncheon on Satur day at noon, November 29, at the Wilson home on Ansel Drive. Hostesses were Mrs. Tom Ad dison, Mrs. Carlisle Neely, Mrs. Delmar Rhame, Mrs. John Ad dison, Mrs. Preston Thompson, Mrs. Julian Bolick, and Mrs. Kenneth Baker. Luncheon was served buffet style from the dining table cen tered with an epergne filled with mixed flowers. Guests were seated at indi vidual tables centered with camellias in shape of a cherub. Following lunch, the bride- elect presented each of her at tendants with a gift. The honored guest was also remembered with a gift by the hostesses. Mrs. Hoselden Is Hostess To Club The Iris Garden Club held its regular monthly meeting Wed nesday, November 27, at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Haselden on North Adair Street, with Mrs. William Davis, co-hostess. Christmas arrangements brought by the members were used as decorations. During the program the process of making each arrangement was present ed. Refreshments were served dur ing the social hour. Mr. Davis is a 1961 graduate of Clinton High School and is a junior at the University of South Carolina. The wedding is planned for January 4. r Christmas Program Presented By WSCS The annual Christmas pro gram was presented Monday evening in Hodges Hall by mem bers of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of Broad Street Methodist Church. The president, Mrs. James Walker, welcomed the group, asembling members of all the circles and Wesleyan Guild, and a number of guets. An inspiring devotional was given by Mrs. Joe Edwards, and the Christmas message was by Mrs. Allen Simmons. A solo, “The Christmas Can dle," was rendered by Mrs. Thomas Taylor, i During the social hour party dainties were served from pret tily appointed tables with punch and coffee. Berries and greenery and light ed candles were used in decora tion. Edge-League Engagement l Mr and Mrs. Grady B. JOHN STRINGER RAINEY HART-RAINEY WEDDING EVENT OF SATURDAY AT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Miss Catherine deVeaux Hart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Blondel Hart of Clinton, became the bride of John Stringer Rain- son of Dr. and Mrs. John Her bouquet was fashioned of white camellias. After the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Hart entertained the wed ding party and their guests at a reception at the Hotel Mary Mus- g.ove. During the afternoon the couple left for a wedding trip, af ter which they will be at home in the Heathwood Court Apart ments, 4100 Divine Street, Colum bia, where ,Mrs. Rainey is a senior at the University of South Carolina, and Mr. Rainey is a junior at the Universityi’s School of Law.. For traveling the bride wore a suit of light blue wool with black accessories and a corsage of camellias. Party Is Given After Rehearsal Dr. and Mrs. Malcolm Mac donald, Mr. and Mrs\ J. M. Oe- land, and Mrs. L. W. Marshall entertained with a rehearsal party at the home of the former immediatley following the Hart- Rainey rehearsal at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday evening, November 29. Guests included members of the wedding party, the bride and groom’s parents and out of town guests. Roses were used throughout the home in carrying out the cen tral theme “My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose”. The bride and groom were re membered with a gift of love poems by the host and hostesses. Dr. William Redd Turner, pas tor of the church, officiated at the double ring ceremony, which was performed in a setting of magnolia leaves, white chrysan themums in brass jardienieres and brass candelabra holding holding white cathedral tapers. Mrs. T. Heath Copeland, or ganist, presented a program of traditional wedding music. Dr. Rainey served as best man. and ushers included David S. Vandiver, Jr., of Anderson; Marvin Walker Spearman, Jr, of Hartsville; Gentry Waldo Thatcher of St. Louis, Mo.; John H. Moore of Rock Hill; George Dean Johnson, Jr., of Spartan burg, cousin of the bride; and Carroll Brown Hart of Narayang- unj, East Pakistan, brother of the bride. i.Uss Lillian Blake Hart of Williamsburg, Va., sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and Mrs. Fred W. Shields, Jr., of Mount Vernon, Va., the bride’s cousin, was matron of honor. They wore street-length dresses of emerald green velvet with bateau necklines and matching velvet hats with circular veils. Their flowers were bouquets of bronze chrysanthemus tied with matching ribbons. Bridesmaids were Misses Mary and Nancy Rainey, both of Anderson, sisters of the bride- bridegroom; Miss Julia Shields of Mount Vernon, Va., cousin of the bride; and Miss Ellen Waddle of West Point, Ga. Their dresses, headdresses and bouquets were identical to those of the honor attendants The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a full-length wedding gown of light ivory peau de soie appliqued with Alen- con lace. The long sleeves taper ed to lily points at the wrists and the controlled fullness of the skirt ended in a cathedral train. Her veil of hand-made Venetian lace was worn madonna style. November Meeting Women of Church Mrs. Julian Blankenship pre sented a program on “Psalms of Praise" at the November meet- nig of the Women of All Saints Episcopal Church Monday after noon at the parish house. Mrs. James Macdonald, presi dent, presided at the business session which included plans for Christmas decoration of die church and a discussion on send ing gifts and cards to children at the Church Home for Children in York.. Mrs. Gordon Warden was named to represent the group on the inter-church committee plan nings the observance of the World Day of i*rdyer set for February 14. Mrs. Holcombe Gives Program Mrs. Laura Mae Howard and Miss Ula Mae Owens were joint hostesses at the November meet ing of the Carolina Wrenn Gar den club on Monday afternoon, November 25. The meeting was opened with a silent Sprayer in honor of the .de ceased president. ' . Following a short Iwsiness meeting, Mrs- Gary Holcombe presented an interesting pro gram on “Use of Fruit and Flowers”. Of special note dur ing the program, Mrs. Holcombe made an interesting* centerpiece of flowers fashioned by vege tables. Sandwiches, salad,, cheese biscuits, cake and coffee were enjoyed during the social hour. Mrs. Brehmer Hostess To Garden Glub The Yellow Jessamine Garden Club hel<j its November meeting at the home of Mrs. Judson Breh mer on Monday afternoon, No- November 29. The program was centered around Christmas ideas with Mrs. D. G. Creighton, club presi dent, in charge. Each member was asked to bring an arrange ment and a Christmas idea to the meeting. Each arrangement was discussed and judged according ly. Mrs. Randall Smith and Mrs. W. G.
