Deloach Home Destroyed By Fire Laurens — Several hundred persons crowded the scene last Thursday night as fire destroy ed the home of Mrs. Sara D. DeLoach in the Trinity Ridge community, about four miles west of Laurens.. Mrs. DeLoach was not at home when the blaze was spot ted by Gordon Pitts, a neighbor. The Laurens fire department was called at 8:15 p. m., but firemen turned back after they learned the house could not be saved. Mrs. W. C. Wharton Waterloo — Mrs. Sara Wallace Wharton, 71, widow of the late W. Carl Wharton, died in a Lau rens hospital last Wednesday morning after two weeks of ill ness. L | A native of NeWberry County, she was a daughter of the late Robert G. and Lucy Spearman Wallace and a member of Water loo Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dunklin M. Sullivan of Lau rens and Mrs. W. S. McNeill of Waterloo; a stepson, William L. Wharton of Mobile, Ala.,; a step daughter, Mrs Thomas R. Sims of FMcence; two brothers, J. W. Wallace of Kingstree and Charles Wallace of Asheville, N. C.; four sisters, Mrs. J. H. Wharton Sr. of Laurens, Mrs. E. N. Butler of Live Oak, Fla., Mrs. J. K. Nelson of Columbia and Mrs. S. S. Smith of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and four grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed at Kennedy Mortuary at 4 p. m. Thursday by Rev. Billy Mac- key and Rev. Gene Norris. Mrs. Chapman and children re mained for a longer visit to her mother. Allen Finley attended 4-H Club camp at Camp Long last week. Jimmy Alexander visited his grandmother in Clinton last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Finely spent Sunday with Mrs. Finley’s brother, J. C., Hughes and fam ily, in Fountain Inn. Coming here on Friday to visit with Mrs. Rhett Bryson will be her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Aycock of Cush ing, Oklahoma. After spending last week with her sister, Mrs. Oiin Stewart and fttmily in Spartanburg, Mrs. Frank Oakley returned home Sunday accompanied by Kathy ajid Ray^Stewart.
