Irene Pharr of Clarks ville, Ind., were recent guests of Mrs. Addle B. Coleman. Misses Linda and Janet Roper returned to Clarksville with them .(or the summer. Odie Nelson spent a few days with Mrs. Nelson and family last week. He has returned to the Veterans Hospital in Columbia where he has been a patient for several months. Tony Webb and Ray Farmer, with several friends, visited in the mountains of North Carolina a few days this week. Mrs. Oliver Smith spent Wed nesday of last week with her son, Horace Smith, and Mrs. Smith. Barry Kitchens has returned after a three weeks visit with his grandmother, Mrs. Laura Mc- Gaha, and uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Padgett, in Dun can. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker and family recently attended a birthday dinner for her sister, Mrs. J. W. Wrenn, in Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Revis are spending a vacation in Hatties burg, Miss., with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Sizemore, and family. , Mrs. Lois Webb accompanied Mr. and Mrs. John Webb of Cam den, to Kentucky for the week. Susie Meeks is spending two weeks in Mobile, Ala., with her brother, Jimmy Meeks, and Mrs. Meeks. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Bailey, Skeet, and Mrs. W. I. Bailey are visit ing the former’s mother, Mrs. B. T. Bagley, and other relatives in Goodwater, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Reece and family left Sunday for a week’s vacation in Chicago, 111., visiting relatives of Mrs. Feece. Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Roberts are spending the week at their cottage on Lake Greenwood. Their guests for the week are Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Roberts of Rodnoke Rapids, N. C. Their daughters, Barbara and Kay, joined them for the week-end. Mrs. J. H. Wallenzine Of the Little River-Dominick commun ity, spent the week-eml with her daughter, Mrs. Lilly Balia Millar. Raymond Kuykendall of Redstone Arsenal, Ala., Miss Shirley Eskew of Arlington, Vai, aid Rhonda Cauler of Riverton, N. J., spent a wade with the for mer s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. 'Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Abercrom bie and Mrs. Linda Abercrom bie spent a recent week-end with the former’s daughter, Mrs. Har old Qardy, and Mr. Clardy in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith and family vacationed in Plant City, Fla., the past week-end with his mother, Mrs. Edd Rohr, and Mr. Rohr. Maxie Davis, USN, of Glancove NAFB, Brunswick, Ga., spent Iks week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Davis. Mr. aad Mrs. Yancy Eubanks of Buffalo, were also guests of the latter’s parents. On Sunday the Davis’ and Eubanks’ accompanied Mr. Davis to his base and then went on to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a few days. Mrs. Julia Thrift and grand son, Danny Poole, of Greenville, were guests of her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Pace, last week. The Pace family accompanied them home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Boswell and Miss Ann Boswell of Rome, Ga., are visiting Mrs. Boswell’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Thornburg, and also their daugh ter and sister, Mrs. Eddie Aber crombie. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Dunaway, Sr., and family of Winter Haven, Fla., are visiting relatives here this week. Lee Thornburg is in Sarasota, Fla., visiting George Cato and other friends. Mr. and Mrs. Pete Kelly and children of Gaffney, visited his mother, Mrs. Ike Jones, and Mr. Jones during the week-end. The Jones returned home with the Kelly family for the week. Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Owens and daughter, Cathy, of Hunts ville, Ala., visited Mrs. Owens’ aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walker, and other rela tives during the past week. Bill Brinkley returned with his sister for a visit.' Johnnie Cooper of Enoree, is spending a few days with Kay Morton. Mrs. J. H. Seay and Miss Fero- line Seay of Greenville, spent sev eral days this week with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mrs. Paul Glenn of Greenville, spent Friday with her sister, Mrs. Trammell. Her daughter, Dakire, returned home with her after spending the week with her aunt and unde. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hairston and sons are vacationing at Folly Beach. They will visit several friends and relatives while there. Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Sanders, Arty Joe, Timmy and Malcolm, left Monday for a week’s visit with her mother, Mrs. Kate John son, in Bradford, Pa. Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Whitmore and Danny visited Mrs. Whit more's mother, Mrs. Eva Rhodes in Woodruff Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Snow and children, Billy and Bubbles, spent a few days vacation in the mountains of North Carolina this week. They visited the “Tweeteie Railroad’ and other points of in terest. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Huffstetler and Sandy spent the week’s va cation at- their trailer home on Lake Murray. Miss Katherine Fowler of Johns Island, was the week-end guest of Miss Harriet Wilson, Miss Fowler is a classmate of Miss Wilson at Furman Univer sity. Mrs. Claude Gilstrap and Na than spent the week-end in Greenville with their son and brother, Gerald Gilstrap, and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. J. Fair. Mrs. Bobby Kitchens and sons, Wayne and Pete, and Mias Nor ma Jean Penland of near Clinton, spent Firday with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kitchens. ‘ Mr. and'. Mrs. Maxis Reeder and family have moved to the Lydia community after living in Greenwood for several years. Rev. and Mrs. Dean Sawyer will spend the week with his' pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Sawyer, in Concord, N. H. TEMPLETON Mr. and Mrs. Joel Templeton announce the birth of a daugh ter on June 90 at Bailey Memo rial hospital. Mrs. Templeton is the former Miss Peggy Penning ton. , * CHILDRESS Mr. and Mrs. James Childress of Laurens, announce the birth of a daughter, Jimmie Denise, on June 18 at the Laurens hospital. Mrs. Childress was Miss Jessie Mae Edmunds before marriage. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Edmunds of Palmetto Street. WITH THE SICK Roxanne Whitt underwent sur gery at Bailey^ Memorial Hos pital on Sunday, after being in-, jured in a fall Saturday evening. Mrs. Edd Evans is a patient at Bailey Memorial Hospital. Sandra Reeder is ill at her home. Among those dismissed from the hospital are Mrs. Paid Pat terson, Mrs. Wade Pennington, Mrs. Jack Laney and Mrs. Janie Stewart. GUEST SPEAKER Dr. Fred Holcombe will be the guest speaker at the 11:00 a. m. worship hour, and Rufus Hand- back will speak at the 7:30 p. m. service on Sunday at the Lydia, Baptist Church. The public is in vited. TO STUDY HANDBOOK Beginning Wednesday, July 10, the Lydia Baptist Church will be gin the study of the “Church Member Handbook.” This will be at the Wednesday evening prayer services. Rev. M. J. Sanders will teach the book. He urges all members to attend the series of study. CIRCLE TO MEET The Kathleen Walker circle will meet on Wednesday at 1:00 p. m. with Mrs. Lyda Howard. GENERAL MEETING The WMU general meeting will be held Thursday, July 11, at 7:30 p. m. at the church. PARTY ENJOYED The Lydia community build ing was the scene of a surprise birthday party for Billy Dicker- son on June 21. There was 23 young people present to enjoy the games, con tests and dancing, Two beautiful pink cakes were cut and served with other party refreshments from the buffet ta ble. Billy, who was 14 years old June 22, received many nice gifts from friends. His mother, Mrs, Mildred Dickerson, was assisted by Miss es Karen Hanna and Susie and Sylvia Estes in entertaining.
