Mrs. Willie O’Dell visited her sister, Mrs. Minnie Bridges, who is a patient at a Columbia hos pital after suffering‘a fall re- 4-H HIGHLIGHTS By MYRTICE TAYLOR County Home Demonstration Agent • Regular 4-H Club meetings were ended with the ones in May. Special events will be held by certain clubs during the summer months, such as picnics, and parties. County winners are be- j ing selected and they will repre sent the county at State 4-H Club Week at Clemson July 22-28. A county winner is selected in most all projects and they prepare a record book of all their 4-H pro ject activity work. In honor of “June Is Dairy Month”, a television program was presented by a 4-H member over a Spartanburg station last Saturday. Sarah Sims of Whit ten Village Club gave a demon stration on making lime sher bet and also on making milk shakes. Sarah attended State 4-H Club last year and with another girl gave a team demonstration on dairy foods. This year she will present an individual dairy foods demonstration. Judy Davenport of Shady Grove community was visited last week. She is one of the 4-H girls raising chickens this year. She has lost only about five since she received the 100 chicks in April. The roosters are almost ready for eating or freezing and the pullets will be kept for layers. This is a continuing project whereby the 4-H members return ten pullets to be sold and this money is used to buy the chicks the next year. 4-H members from Laurens County will attend County Camp, July 8-12. The group will attend Camp Long this year and all members interested in going will be contacted in the next few days. The group will leave on Monday morning and return Friday af ternoon. cently. Friends of Ronnie Sineath will be interested to kpow he has been taken out of observation and U now permitted visitors. He is aft the Greenville General hospital. CHOIRS TO MEET The primary and junior choirs of the First Baptist Church will begin meeting today (Thursday) at 4:00 p. m. Primaries will meet in the 7-year department and will be under the direction of Misses Mary Ann Brown and Jennie Rae Surratt. MISS STROUD HONORED Miss Melinda Stroud, June bride-elect, was honored on Sat urday evening with a bridal shower at the Joanna club house. Miss Stroud was lovely in a soft green summer dress, with white accessories. She was pre sented a corsage of white satin bows and wedding bells. She will become the bride of Frank Hendricks on June 30 at the First Baptist Church. 8CHUMPERT-THOMPBON NUPTIALS Miss Judy Ann Schumpert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Schumpert, became the bride of Charles Otis Thompson, Jr., son of- Mr.' and Mrs. Thompson, Sr., of Dallas, Texas, on Sunday af ternoon aft 4:00 p. m. at the home of the bride’s parents on Milton Road. Rev. James B. Mitchell, pastor of the First Baptist Church, per formed the ceremony in the pres ence of the family and close friends. Miss Schumpert was lovely in a white pique dress with scoop neckline and matching jacket with three-quarter length sleeves, and white accessories. Her cor sage was of white carnations. A small reception was held fol lowing the ceremony, after which the couple left for a brief honey moon. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will leave on Wednesday to make their home in Dallas where he is studying commercial art. Jack Leake is a patient at Bai ley Memorial Hospital, Clinton.
