Local GiHs At Comp York For the Week Approximately 225 girls of the Kadoka District of the Clinton Camp Fire girls are enjoying a week of camping at Camp York, Kings Mountain, N. C. 1 The girls are participating in various activities such as swim ming, hiking, boating, cooking out, crafts and archery. The girls also take part in edu cational activities such as learn ing wildlife. For this particular activity, Jim Neal 1 and Ron Cleaver local foresters, were guests of the girls on Tuesday. Other guests included Miss Em ily Cates, representative of the American Camping Association, and on Wednesday Alec Stump, Ph D., of the Presbyterian Col lege staff. The camp staff is composed of Mrs. Carolyn Davidson, direc tor; Mrs. Martha Fuller, busi ness manager; Mrs. Billie Camp bell, health supervisor; Miss Margaret Blakely, spiritual ad visor; Mrs. Marian Ramage, wa terfront director; Mrs. Grace Connor, director of music; and Mrs. Dimple Horton, food super visor. Unit leaders on the staff in clude Barbara Steed and Jean Bryant of Win thro p College* Maigr Cleland, Billie Campbell, and Marian Ramage, all of Clin^ ton; and Eleanor Fowler of Pres byterian College. Other college girls helping with the camping this year include Nancy Neigh bors, Linda Boland, Clara Belle Hill, Rita Arant and Berry Keel er, all of Winthrop College. Tuesday, June 11 — Calvary Baptist versus Davidson Street Representative To Boys' State In Columbia Kerry Riser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Riser of Joanna, will represenL Jonpna at Palmetto Boys State in Columbia June 9-15. Kerry, who is a rising sen ior at Clinton High School, is sponsored by the Joanna Foun dation. Palmetto Boys’ State, is a my thical fifty-first state, organized and administered for citizenship purposes, under the auspices of the South Carolina Department of the American Legion. PERSONAL MENTION Duck Adair, member of the rising senior class at The Cita del, Charleston, is at home for several weeks vacation. Friends of Miss Maude Geer will be interested to know she is a patient at Bailey Memorial hospital. Joel Cox, rising senior at The Citadel, Charleston, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joel R. Cox. He was accompanied b y classmates Vince Petno and Larry Hitch cock. They returned to Charles ton Monday where they will be connected with the anatomy de partment of. the South Carolina Medical College hospital for the summer. Friends of Mrs. Perry Moore will be interested to know she is a patient at Bailey Manorial Hospital convalescing from inju ries received in an auto accident. Dr. and Mrs. D. O. Rhame will leave Friday for the Isle of Palms for a week’s vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Bagwell and children, Mrs. Alvin Bag- well and children, Lewis Bag- well, Sr., visited Alvin Bagwell the past Sunday at the Veterans hospital in Augusta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Krell and children, George and Kathryn, of Columbia, spent the week-aid with Mrs. Hugh Eichdberger. Mrs. Ethel R. Pitts spent the week-end in Spartanburg with Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Pitts and daughter, Mary. On Saturday she attended the funeral of Bin Louis Bond’s mother, Mrs. E. H Garrett, in Spartanburg. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wright and family of Mohave, Fla., were guests this week of the formas’ sister, Mrs. W. O. Hol land, and Mr. Holland. IN SELF MEMORIAL Friends of William Bell, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Bell, will be interested to know he is a pa tient at Self'Memorial Hospital, Greenwood, where he underwent surgery today. Among Clintonians attending graduation services at Davidson College were Miss Barbara Eich- elberger. Dr. and Mrs. D. H. Mc- Fadden and Corinne Boyd, and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Young and family. Dr. C. B. Betts and James Sloan are attending General Sy nod of the Associate Reformed trian Church at Bon darken, Flat Rock, N. C., this week. Misses Barbara Eichelberger and Corinne Boyd are attending a house party with Converse friends at Ocean Drive. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Addison and Misses Murray, Mary Jane and Tommy are vacationing at Ocean Drive this week. 4TH GRADE PICNIC Mrs. J. B. Speake’s fourth grade class enjoyed a picnic re cently at the First Baptist Church playground. Assisting Mrs. Speake were Mrs. Ben Mauldin and Mrs. Ed Perry. GIRLS HAVE OUTING The Kadoka group of the Camp Fire Girls who just completed the fifth school grade, enjoyed an outing at the Jacobs cottage on Lake Greenwood. The girls enjoyed swimming and a picnic lunch. Leaders are Mrs. Hugh Jacobs and Mrs. Carolyn Smith. Other teams have posted the follow ing records thus far. Bailey Methodist, 7-S; Lydia Baptist, 7-4; Broad Street Methodist, 4-5; First Baptist, 4-6; First Presbyterian, 4-6; Davidson St. Baptist, 3-7; and Holly Grove, 3-8. Last week Davidson Street took First Baptist 5-1; Broad Street edged Holly Grove 8-7; Calvary Baptist defeated First Presbyterian 9-2; Bailey Metho dist topped Lydia Baptist with score of 1*6; First Baptist topped Bailey Methodist to the tune of 5-4; Broad Street Meht- odist handed Lydia Baptist a 7-6 defeat; while Calvary Bap tist exploded with a 26-6 vic tory over Holly Grove.
