Kennington and children, Mr. and Mrs. Tommy O’Shields of AtianU, Ga., were week-end visitors of their moth er, Mrs. Sara O’Shields, and oth er relatives. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Craig of Greenville, spent the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Craig. Mrs. V. M. Coker of Easley, is visiting her daughter and son-in- law, Mr. and Mrs. S. A. League, for a few days. S/Sgt. Harold Gardner, recent ly transferred from Biloxi, Miss., to Shaw AFB, Sumter, visited Mrs. Gardner and children over the weekend-. Mr. and Mrs. Lou McMurray and daughters of Whitmire, were Sunday visitors of the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Chalk. S ari Connell of West Virginia and North Carolina, spent the week-end with Mrs. Connell. Mrs. Minnie Burnett visited her sister, Mrs. Lyda Gilbert, in Clinton over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Martin of Illinois, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Henderson, Mr. and Mrs. O. E. Martin. Mrs. Harold Foreman and son of Los Angeles, Calif., are visit ing her parents, Mr. and Mrs Otis Murphy, for six weeks. Mr. and Mrs. G. V. Adair of IJardinsburg, Ky., spent several days last week with the latter’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Phillips. Mrs. Sara Hunnicutt and her mother, Mrs. Helen Ambrose, ef Clearwater, Fla., visited their brother and son, Walter Am brose, in Norfolk, Va., over the~ week-end. Mrs. Lavinia Cooley was a Saturday visitor of her brother, Verner Ross, and Mrs. Ross in Greenville. CHICKEN BARBECUE Epworth Methodist Church will have a chicken barbecue supper on Saturday, May 4, at the Club House at 5:00 p. m. The cook will be “Tot” Stewart. Plates will be $1.25 for adults and 75c for chil dren. WOMAN’S CLUB MEETS The Joanna Woman’s Club meets tonight (Thursday) at 7:30 for the-regular monthly session. Mrs. E. J. Willingham will have charge of the program. All mem- bet's are invited to be present. GENERAL MEETING There will be a general meet ing of all Vacation Bible School workers of the First Baptist Church on May 7 at 7:30 in the young people’s department. Shealy attended the ennnoi meeting of the Masonic Grand Lodge in Columbia last Thursday and Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Gregory of Thomson, Ga., visited rela tives here during the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Sharpe had as their weekend guests, Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Sharpe of Chap pells and Str. and Mrs. Hugh Sharpe of Landrum and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ringer and children of Newberry. Mrs. W. W. Ussery is visiting her son and family the Rev. and Mrs. W. M. Ussery. James Ussery of Augusta, Ga., was also a visitor in the Ussery home dur ing the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Smith en tertained a number of relatives and several friends at dinner at their home Sunday. The occa sion was Mr. Smith’s birthday. Mrs. Elbert Shealy of Little Mountain visited Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Shealy several days last week. Mrs. J. A. -Guthrie of Laurens was also a visitor in the Shealy home Saturday. Friends of Miss Ruth Whiteford regret that she is a patient at the Bailey Memorial Hospital where she underwent surgery Friday. Mrs. Billy Ray Reeder and Mrs. Ralph Wilkie apd chi] spent Friday in Gr&r with children their parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. I 1 . Bowman. G. C. Templeton, 78 Cross Anchor — Grover C. Templeton, 78, died on Sunday after two weeks of illness and several years of declining health. A native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late L. B. and Luck Bobo Tem pleton. He was a member of Cedar Shoals Baptist Church and was a retired painter and farmer. He was a former mag istrate. For several years he was a member qJL the Clemson College Extension Service. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lola Wilson Simmons Temple ton; a step-daughter, Mrs. Floyd Hitt of Anderson; two step-sons, Brooks Simmons of Cross Anchor, and Woodrow Simmons of Spartanburg; a sis ter, Lillie Parham of Union; a brother, Ben Templeton of Spokane, Wash., and eight grandchildren. Funeral services were con ducted Tuesday afternoon at New Hope Baptist Church by Rev. Paul HartseU, Stradley and Rev. Burial was in the tery.
