But he recovered to find five checks In the bag—uncashed —for $2.3 million. The checks were made out to the Wachovia Bank and Trust Company and had come to Charlotte by bus from a bank in North Wilkes- boro. The checks were non-ne- gotiable, and no one was out any money. Hill and his working companion took the checks to the police station. The bank was contacted and the checks were taken to their rightful place. “1 knew I couldn’t cash the checks at the corner drug store.” Hill said, ‘‘but it was a good feel ing for a while, anyway.” Heavenly treasure worth far more than -Joe Hill’s find can be found by any true seeker. You can find it. Instructions for find ing it are in a Book which you can, find anywhere. The Book is in many homes, and thanks to the Gideon Society, in hotels, motels, and hospitals. The heav enly treasure is salvation and a new life where all needs are pro vided in the family of God. Directions for finding the heav enly treasurer are found in Mat thew 6:33, “Seek ye first the cingdom of God and His right- msness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” What hings? A1 things material and spiritual necessary for this full, rich life. The natural man of the world has the wrong idea about the na ture of the true treasure. He hinks of material treasure, mon- jy, and the things money will buy. He doesn’t seek first the ■ tingdom of God. Often he doesn’t seek it at all. No wonder we have so many unhappy, frustrated people. They are following this old worldly pattern of material success which leads into constant strug gle with their fellowman. But these material things never sat isfy him. W’hen he gets one house, he wants • larger one. When he gets one automobile, he wahts two. When he gets one television, he wants another, and so he goes on. ever seeking, ever finding, but never satisfied, because he is looking for the wrong thing. ... St., Paul in tnat magnificent twelfth -chapter of Romans spells out the way to get the heavenly treasure. He writes, "I beseech you thefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world (worldly pattern of struggling and living): but be ye transform ed by the renewing of your mind." Read the whole chapter which concludesn with these word:*; "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Then remember what Jesus said, "I am come that ye might have life, and that ye might have it more abundantly."
