Mrs. Mace Young is a surgical patient at Self Memorial hospital, Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Copeland will celebrate their wedding anni versary April 17. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hughes and Donna and Mrs. Cleo Hughes of Grenewood, visited Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Bartley Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. John Memick of Prosperity, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Herring of Winns boro, visited Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Burroughs Sunday. On Sunday Hurricane Baptist Church began its first Training Union program. To start off the program, a picnic was held at 6:00 p. m. There were 64 pres ent for the first session. Hurri cane would like all those mem. mers and others who are inter ested to come next Sunday night at 6:30 p. m. Hurricane Baptist Church will hold its revival April 14 through 21. Rev. Earl Wilson of the First Baptist Church of Whitmire, will bring the message each night Rev. C. E. Russel, pastor of Hurricane, will lead the singing. Services will begin each evening at 7:30. The nursery wil be open each evening. A cordial welcome awaits you at Hurricane. The Bertha Smith circle will meet at the home of Mrs. W. E. Dickert Thursday (tonight) at 730. Last RHes Friday " For 6. B. Childress Garrison B. (Pop) Childress, 60, died suddenly April 3 ajt his home in Joanna after several months of declining health. He was a native of Pickehs County, but had moved to Joan na 15 years ago. He was em ployed by Joanna Cottoii Mills and attended the Assembly of God in Clinton. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Minnie McQueen Childress; two daughters, Mrs. Virgie Taylor and Mrs. Louise Simmons, both of Greenville^ a son, Buford B. Childress of Greenville; a sister, Mrs. FJossie Loftis of Greenville; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were conduct ed Friday at 3:30 p. m. at the Assembly of God Church by Rev. J. W. Welch and Rev. Ben F. Jones. Burial was in Graeelahd Cemetery in Greenville. Pallbearers were Thurston McQueen, V. M. Norris, Frank Norris. Leonard Childress, Hous ton Childress and Ted Golden. Abrams, Clyde Adkins, and J. C. Nabors. Elfiott Infant Passes Friends of Lt. and Mrs. Tom L. Elliott of Fort Bliss, Texas, regret to learn of the death of their infant son, Thomas Brandt, on Sunday, April 7, folowing sur gery. He was born April 5 at the Fort Bliss Army Hospital. Mrs Elliott is the former Miss Shirley SUton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Staton of this city.
