OUTZ, Ceoaty Age* Cotton farmers will meet at the Gray Court-Owings High School, Friday afternoon, March 22, at 2:30 p.m. Mr. M. C. McKenzie, Extension Agricultural Enginee, Mr. W. C. Nettles, Extension En tomologist, and Mr. L. P. Ander son, Extension Agronomist, will give the program. For years, farmers have com plained about various cotton in secticides. “These insecticides just aren’t killing the weevil’’, they would say. It is a fact, re search now shows that some in-, secticides simply will not do the job that others will do. In other words, the Experiment Stations are now separating the sheep irom the goats. This is the kind of information that is very badly needed. Why should farm ers pay for material that are not going to give good results? This research, along with other important subjects will be dis cussed Friday. March 22, at 2:30 p.m., at the Gray Court-Owings High School, so let’s turn out and get the information that will help you .make a good crop. I am proud of the fact that a Laurens County bull topped the All Breed Bull Sale at Orange burg, held recently. The bull brough $1,00Q.00 and belonged to Jim Addison of Joanna. The one thing that I’m proud to say about Jim is: he is mak ing an honest and sincere effort to improve his herd of Polled Herford Cattle. He is doing this through accurate production rec ords on each brood cow. This means that a cow that doesn’t produce of healthy, fast growing calf that looks good, she is cul led out of the herd. In addition, Jim is making every effort to have only clean Pedigrees on all cattle. The American Here ford Association is helping Jim along this line. Livestock pro ducers through-out the state know about Jim’s efforts and are willing, to, pay top prices for his cattle. , Dairy and Livestock farmers who would like to apply for em ergency feed gtain should do so at this time.' Cattle that qualify will be allowed ten pounds of grain daily for the period desig nated. This period ends Aprii 30th. At the time the applica tion's filled, the amount of hay and grain along with pasture on each farm will have to be stated. The only person that can give this estimate will be the farmer himself. Filing an application CARD OF THANKS The family of the late J. Broadus Boyce wishes to thank their friends and neighbors for the many kindnesses shown during the illness and at the time of his death. Also to Dr. Rhame and Dr. Sullivan, the staff at Bailey Memorial Hos pital and the Clinton Nursing Home for their kind attention. The many floral offerings, food, cards, and many other expres sions of sympathy were deeply appreciated. OFFICE SUPPLIES CHRONICLE PUB. CO. will require a bit of time, so I suggest that farmers bring in formation concerning the amount of feed they have on hand and the exact number of cattle in cluding calves on the farm. At the cotton meeting at Gray- Owings High School, we will have a flame cultivator, spray machine along with ourt other equipment. Looking forward to seeing you there.
