Met With Miss Davidson The Woman’s Christian Tem perance Union met March 12 at 3:30 p. m. at the home of Miss Essie Davidson. Mrs. Hubert Todd, president, presided. Mrs. J. B. Wilder gave the devotional, followed with an in teresting program given by Mrs. Belle Henderson and Mrs. E. L. Holland on “Jesus Dem onstrates His Authority.” Mrs. Clyde Todd discussed the repeal of prohibition in the Indian State and the detrimen tal effects upon ’the people and national affairs* Mrs. C. T .Thomason read “A New Commandment.” It was decided at the state executive meeting to ask Mrs. J. Cecil Perdue to serve as state WCTU treasurer until the convention, Palmetto White Ribbon, a publication, listed the Clinton WCTU as “Hold Fast.” Mrs. Thomas Owens conclud ed the meeting with prayer. A salad course was served. Mrs. Vance Honors Her Bridge Club Last Thursday afternoon, Mrs. Robert Vance entertained mem bers of her bridge club at her home on South Broad Street. Spring flowers made the set ting for the two tables of bridge Mrs. George Cornel son and Mrs. BUI King, Jr., tied for high score. Mrs. Tommy Hollis also was a prize winner. The hostess served a salad course following two progres sions of bridge. Macdoncdds Honor Couples Bridge Club On, Saturday evening of last week, Dr. and Mrs. James Mac donald entertained members of their couples bridge club at their home on the Jacobs highway. Spring flowers of daffodils and gladioli made the setting for the three tables of bridge. A dessert course was served to members, followed with two pro gressions of bridge. Mr. and Mrs. George Cornel- son won high score prizes. Many Courtesies Given Miss Harris, Saturday Bride-Elect LUNCHEOIN IN NEWBERRY On last Wednesday. Mrs. , Claude Crocker and Mrs. George Frady of this city, and Mrs. Lamar Lightsey of Green wood, gave a luncheon at the Wallace House in Newberry honoring ^Miss Cornelia Harris, whose wedding to George Senn of Silverstreet, takes place Sat urday. A profusion of daffodils were used in decoration on the luncheon table and a yellow color note was also effectively carried out in the menu. Miss Harris was given a daf fodil corsage and a Paul Re vere silver bowl. AFTERNOON TEA Mrs. W. G. King and Mrs. J. H. Donnan entertained at tea on Thursday afternoon at the King home on Centennial Street for Miss Cornelia Harris, bride-elect. Arrangements of daffodils were used in the den while pink camellias and flowering quince adorned the living room. Mrs. Irene Pitts poured Rus sian tea from a silver service at the dining room table, with an imported cutwork cloth centered with white tuUe tapering tree adorned with pink grapes and silver beads. Cakes, sandwiches, and cheese straws were served. Assisting the hostess in re ceiving were her mother, Mrs. W. W. Harris, Mrs. Carroll D. Nance and Mrs. Nene Workman. Miss Harris was given a ca mellia corsage and a gift of china in her pattern. AFTERNNON TEA Friday afternoon, Mrs. Ro- mayne Hamilton of Laurens, honored Miss Cornelia Harris, bride-elect, with a tea at the home of her mother, Mrs. Hen ry Young, on South Broad Street. I Guests were invited into the dining room where "Mrs. H. M. Young, Jr., served punch from a lace-covered table centered with double white flowering peach and spirea. Sandwiches, cakes, and nuts were served. The bride-elect was given a corsage and a silver bowl. Wednesday Club Mrs. George Sanders of Joan na, was hostess for her bridge club on Wednesday of last week. Members and guests were serv ed date nut cake topped with whipped cream, and coffee be fore the progressions. Cold drinks, candy and nuts were served between the progres sions. Miss Elgin Weds Mr. Heard In Anderson The marriage of Miss Melaine Ann Elgin and Marvin Zaek Heard took place at 6:00 p. m., Saturday, at the First Baptist Church in Anderson. Dr. Cort R. Flint was the officiating clergyman. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kannon R. Graham of Route 2, Anderson, and her | husband is the son of Mrs. Victor Nardin Hea^ of Winston Drive, Anderson, and the late Mr. Heard. The bride was given in mar riage > by her step-father. She wore a dress of chantilly lace styled ballerina length with high neckline and fitted bodice with long sleeves. A fabric rose held her veil of English illusion in place, and she carried a bouquet of sweetheart roses. Miss Kay Andrews w4s maid of honor in an emerald green embroidered satin dress and weiled fabric rose’ headpiece. Her flowers were yellow carna tions. _ . Joe Greenway was best man. Next Mental Health ETV Program Set For March 28, 4 p.m. The Educational TV sertes on mental health was conducted this week on Wednesday, due to con flict with the state teacher’s meeting. Next week’s program, entitled “Working with Parents” will be telecast on March 28 at 4 p. m. at Clinton High SchooL The series is being presented by South Carolina Mental Health Commission. Local schools, tea* i chers, and churches are taking part in the programs and dis cussion groups. Music Club Meets On Thornwell Campus The Clinton Music Club met Wednesday, March 13, at the Sara Jo Hartness Home on the Thornwell campus - with Mrs. Lewis Hay presiding. The choral group of the Abbe ville Music Club composed of Mrs. A. B. Carwile, Mrs. Walter Cope, Mrs. J. B. Lee, Mrs. Claude Vandiver, Mrs. Frank Ramey, Mrs. Dwight Ellis, Mrs. Gqs Metz, and Mrs. Don Gregroy pre sented the program on American Folk Music. Refreshments of punch, cook ies, mints, and nuts were served by the hpstesses: Miss Luva Mc Donald, Mrs. Robert Wysor, III, Mrs. Edgar Blakely, and Mrs. E. C. Bunker. St. John's LCW With Mrs. Boland The Lutheran Church Women of St. John’s Lutheran Church held the regular meeting March 11 at the home of Mrs. F. M. Boland. The meeting was open ed with prayer by Rev. Gordon Peery. Nineteen members and two guests were present. Devotions were given by Mrs. S. P. Bowers. Mrs. O. C. Wood ruff gave an interesting pro gram.
