Coffee and doughnuts will be served- FOUR YOUNG MEN ENLIST FOR ARMY DUTY Claude Birchmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Birchmore, Freddie Dickerson, son of Mrs. Mildred Dickerson, Preston Cul bertson, son of Mrs. Victoria Cul bertson, and Otis (Smoky) Em ery, son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Emery, are at Fort Jackson for their basic training after their enlistment for six- months active duty. They are members of the local National Guard Company. Mrs. King is the former Miss Beverly Webb of the Lydia com munity. PARTY HELD FOR MRS. GALLMAN The Ldia Community Building was the scene of a pink and blue shower for Mrs. Arthur (Scup) Gallman on Friday evening. Several appropriate games and contests and baby bingo were en joyed by the large number of la dies present. A salad plate with sandwich es and cold drinks was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Bobby Red Devils Slate Two Court Games Clinton High School’s Red Devils’will tackle Winns boro to morrow (Friday) night in Winns- boro and return to their home court Saturday night. February 2 V to meet Woodruff. In earlier action Qinton topped Newberry 76-74 Tuesday night. The win came in two successful foul shots by Scotter Holcombe. Newberry was behind by nine points at the middle of the third quarter, raced ahead, only to downed by Holcombe’s efforts basket. - Holcombe led with 26 points, followed by Joe Gettys with 24 (16 rebounds). Butch Graves of Newberry led for his team with 17 points. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH NOTICE The Lydia Presbyterian Church is now holding its Sunday school and preaching services at 10:00 a. m. and 11:00 a. m;, re spectively, in the Lydia Com munity Building. - The services will be held at the Community Building for the remainder of the winter months. Glynn, 86, x Passes In Rondo John Duncan Glynn, 86, died January 23 in a Ft. Myers, Fla., hospital after several years of declining health. He was a resident of Clinton before ipoving to Ft. Myers to live with a daughter, Mrs. Sa rah Glynn Mauldin. He was a veteran of the Spanish-Ameri- can War. His wild; Mrs. Lillie Harvey Glynn, died a number of yean ago. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by two grand daughters and a grandson, and 11 grandchildren. . He was the last member of his immediate family. Funeral services were con ducted Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at Gray Funeral Home by Rev. J. B. Abercrombie. Burial was in Cedar Shoals Baptist Church cemetery in Spartanburg coun-, ty near Enpree. Mrs. J. Laurens — Mrs. Vivian Rogers May, 37, of Rt. 1, .Laurens, wps found dead in the fire-gutted ruins bf her home about 3 a. m. Saturday. ... A native of Shelby, N. C., she was a daughter of Mrs. Julia Rogers of Columbia and the late Hosea Rogers. She was an em ployee of Lydia Mill in Clinton and was a member of Highland Home baptist Church. Clarence Godsey Dies In Laurens * Laurens—Maj. John Clarence Godsey, Jr., USAF (ret.) 45, of 819 South Harper St., died Sun- / day at 8:25 p.m. in a local hos pital after one year of declining health and an illness of three weeks. He was a native of Laurens County, the son of J. C. Godsey, Sr., and Lillian Crews Godsey. He was a retired Air Force maj or, having retired in June 1962 after 21 years service. He was In the chemical engineering divis ion. He was holder of the Com mendation Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Air Force longe vity service ribbon with two bronze oak leaf clusters.
