They have taken an apartment in the student hous ing at Presbyterian College and he will resume hi* studies there next semester. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Martin and children of Columbia visited her mother, Mrs. James M. Pitts and other relatives here the past week end coming especially to attend the Cotillion Club dance on Sat urday evening. FLORIDA TRIP Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Price have returned from a trip to Mi ami, Fort Lauderdale and Fort Meyers, Fla., going especially for the wedding of Mr. Wilson’s brother, Tommy Wilson and Miss Rose Nault at Fort Meyers on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas are spending the week in Wilming ton, and Cherry Point, N. C. with their daughters, Mrs. L. A. Odom. Mrs. Kenneth Mann and their families. Hollingsworth of Cross Hill, was elected chairman of the Laurens County Forestry Board at the annual meeting of that group held recently. The work of the group over the past year was discussed. In summarising fire control activities it was noted that 78 fires burned 561.2 acres. Care less burning of debris caused 28% of all woods fires in the county. Twenty-two fires in Laurens woodlands were caus ed by debris burning. Eight fire law violators were prose cuted. During the past fiscal year 28 landowners received assistance with forest management prac tices. In addition, over 108,000 board feet of saw timber and nearly 178 standard cords of p u 1 p w o o d were selectively marked for cutting. Over 1,880,000 trees were planted in Laurens County dur ing the past planting season. It was noted that Laurens unit personnel presented 78 fire prevention programs to various groups in the county. The board acknowledged with thanks the valuable services performed by Tom Hill, County Ranger; Tom Mitchell, Warden for the Ware Shoals district; L. F. Corbett, Warden for the Mounlville district; William R. Benner, Warden for the Ora dis trict; J. P. Dunlap, Mountvilte Towerman; Edward G. Chap man, Big Knob Towerman; and Elbert S.
