Hogan atr tended the meeting of the South Carolina Presbyterial at Upper Long Cane Presbyterian Church in Abbeville on Wednesday. Mrs. William Kitchen and son of hewberry, were visitors of her mother,v Mrs. Minnie Burnett, last week-end. Miss Annie Putnam of Laurens, is making her home for the pres ent with her niece, Mrs. Charlie Cole. Mrs. Ted Davis and children of Camden, were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boyce last week-end. Mrs. Pearl Williams spent the week-end in Prosperity with her niece, Mrs. Marit- Bedenbaugh. Mr. and Mrs. Meggs O’Dell of Travelers Rest, and little Ann were visitors of Mrs. Willie O’Dell Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott were Saturday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Watson Collins in Blairs- ville, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Bolce and Cherry of Aiken, spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boyce and Mr. and Mrs. Mason Rowland. Johnny Buchanan of Florence, spent the week-end with his pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Buch anan. Legrande Shealy of Greensboro, N. C., spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. J. E. Shealy. Social Security QUESTION: I plan to retire when 1 am 62 later this year. Should I apply for social secur ity benefits now, or would I get more out of it if I waited until I am 68? ANSWER: This is a decision you will have to make yourself. If you begin getting benefits at 62, you will get 20 per cent less per month than had you waited. On the other hand, you will get benefits for 3 years longer. You will be ahead in total benefits for about 15 years by applying at age 62. QUESTION: I wiU be retired by my company as soon as I reach my 65th birthday in December. When should I apply for my so- ANSWER: You may apply as much as 3 months before you become 66. Get hi touch with your social security office in Septem ber or October. This should as sure your getting your first check on time. QUESTION: I’U be 68 in No vember and my wife will be 62 the same month. Wa both work. How long must we have worked in order to qualify for retirement benefits? ANSWER: Men who reach 68 or women who reach 63 in 1962, need only 2% years til quarters) of work under social security in order to qualify for retirement benefits. Men and women reach ing these ages in 1963 will need 3 years (12 quarters).
