Godfrey spent Tuesday in North Augusta, going especially for the birthday cele bration of her little granddaugh ter, Emmie An, who was thres years old. AT HOME Friends of Mrs. John Rivers will be interested to know she is convalescing at her home on Cal vert Avenue after a few days stay at the Self Memmorial hospital, Greenwood. IN MIAMI R. E. Martin, assistant prin cipal at Clinton High School, is attending the meeting of the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in Miami, Fla., this week. He was accom panied on the motor trip by two other school representatives of the state, and will return tomor row. Visiting Sgt. and Mrs S. C. Rowe the past week-end were his brother, Robert Rowe, his nieces, Vicky and Marilyn Rowe, of Ma rion. N. C., who came especially to see Sgt. Laurens Names Templeton As New Fire Chief Laurens — Gary Templeton, a veteran of 15 years with the Lau rens fire department, will serve as fire chief following the action of city council at a meeting Mon day night. Laurens City Police Chief J. W. Power has been acting chief of the fire department since the re cent death of Chief Carl Dial.
