Mr. and Mrs, Sidney Oakley visited the former’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Pruitt Oakley near Laurens. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Burdett, Mrs. Wilson Campbell and chil dren and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Burdette attended a birthday dinner for the former Mrs. Bur dette’s mother, Mrs. E. S. Man ning in Iva Sunday. They also visited Mr. Burdette's mother, Mrs. C. R. Burdette of Iva who was seriously ill in the Anderson Hospital. Friends were sorry to learn that Mrs. Burdette had passed away Sunday night. Fu neral services were held at the Union Baptist Church near Iva on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Emmit Neal, of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boyce and daughter, of Spartanburg, were Sunday visi tors of Mr and Mrs. J. B. Boyce. Sgt. and Mrs Leon Abercrom bie and son, of Myrtle Beach, were recent guests of their par ents. Pvt Aaron Armstrong, of Fort Jackson, Columbia, visited Mrs. Armstrong and daughter and his parents, Mr and Mrs Earl Armstrong during the week-end Corp. Kenneth Armstron, also of Fort Jackson, spent the week end with her parents Mr. and Mrs Ike Jones are visiting her son and daughter- in-law, Mr and Mrs Pete Kelly in Gaffney. Mr and Mrs. Charles Gaffney with their son, Mack, who was spending the week-end with them from Clemson College and with Mr Gaffney’s mother, Mrs R. C. Gaffney, of Whitmire, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. Sellers in Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Sanders, of Rock Hill, were week-end guests of Rev. and Mrs. M. J. Sanders and with Mrs. Viola Dunnaway in Clinton. Mr. and Mrs. William Stone and children, of Anderson, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Mr and Mrs. Cary Smith and son. Scott, of near Laurens, were Sunday supper guests of the Trammells. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wil liams and children, Polly and Angie, and Danny Thomas, of Newberry, were Sunday guests of Mr and Mrs. H. W. Williams. Mrs David Word and Miss Marie Weir accompanied their nephew, Johnny Weir, to his home in Greenville Saturday. Mr and Mrs. Wylie Harper, of Greenwood, visited her fath- ! er, S. J. Todd, and sister and - brother-in-law, Mr and Mrs Homer Fuller Sunday. Rev. M. J. Sanders attended the South Carolina Baptist Con vention held in Greenville this week. ^ ' Mr. and Mrs. L. W Abercrom bie visited their daughter, Mrs. Harold Clardy and Mrs. Clardy in Greenville during the week end, going to welcome their new est grandchild. Mrs. Abercrom bie remained in Greenville with her daughter for a visit. Mr and Mrs H W. Williams were in Greenville Monday to see her mother, Mrs W. W. Ball who remains seriously ill in a nursing home. Kenneth Trammell, SA, arriv ed home Saturday for a week's stay with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell following his completion of his recruit training with the U. S. Navy in San Diego, Calif. Claude Gllstrap, Jr., Fred Bodie, Glenn Gaskins, Clyde Trammell, Van Oxner and Ru fus Handback were among those attending the South Carolina Safety Conference held in Colum bia on last Wednsdeay and Thursday. Mrs. Cauble is ill at her home. Tom Gregory returned home on Wednesday of last week from the Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood. Mrs. Gregory had been with her son while he was a hospital patient.
