Mr. and Mrs. Guy Prater, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Vaughn attended the Clemson-Maryland football game at Clemson Saturday. Johnnie Sirmans, who has been working in Nashville, Tenn., spent several days last week with Mrs. Sirmans and children. Following this visit Mr. Sirmans went to Parkersburg, W. Va., where he will be work ing. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Willing ham and children, of Winns boro, were Friday overnight visitors of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Willingham. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Willingham and little Cindy Prater visited Mrs. Inez Galloway in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Morse and Mrs. Annie Harrison, of Newberry, were Sunday visitors of Mrs. Alma Morse. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wclcbel attended the all-night singing convention Saturday in Spartan burg. / Mrs. parson Nabors and daughter, Dale and Cindy Pra ter were Saturday visitors in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Nabors and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Nabors in Gray Court Sunday. Phillip Holmes, who is work ing in Eufaula, Ala., arrived home Wednesday for several days visit with Mrs. Holmes and little "Cookie.” Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pitts, of Charlotte, N. C., spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil O’Dell. Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bolick, Mrs. Bertha Fulmer, Mr. and Mrs. George Walter Fulmer en joyed an outing and dinner at Panaroma Lodge Sunday. Mrs. Bill Richard, Mrs. Louise Huff and son, of Green ville, were Saturday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. Sunday visitors of the Murphys were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brooks of Easley. M. meeting in Pocono Man or, Pa., Monday and Tuesday. Mrs. L. D. Fowler, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Fowler and son, Den nis, of Gaffney, spent the week end with Mrs. B. R. Bowen. Beckom spent last week with their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Beckom in Green wood. During their stay they were Thursday supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Beckom. Mr. and Mrs. C. D. Bowers and daughter, Jan and Gus Tinsley, of Newberry, spent Sun day in Newport, Tenn. Mrs. Tins ley, who bad been visiting there for several weeks, accompanied them home. Mr. and Mrs. William Hatton and children, of Florence, were recent visitors of his mother, Mrs. J. M. Hatton. Mrs. B. R. Bowen left on Thursday for Chicago, 111., for several weeks visit with Mr. Bowen. R. G. Eddie Stroud and David Estes, who graduated from Marine boot training recently at Parris Island, received promotions to Marine Pfc. They will be sta tioned for 4 weeks at Camp Le- Jeune, N. C. Mrs. Earl Sineath and Dar ren and Miss Margaret Whits spent the week-end in Bamberg with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Troupe. Mrs. John Gaskin, Mrs. Rudy Prater, Mrs. Cecil Farmer visit ed the former's mother, Mrs. Sallie Crocker, who is seriously ill in Whitmire. Mrs. John Burnett, Sr., en tertained her sister, Mrs. Lydia GUbert, of Clinton, with a sur prise birthday dinner on Sun day of last week. BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT Mr. and Mrs. F: C. Carter has been dis charged from the local hospital following minor surgery. Chippy Brawley is recuperat ing following treatment at the local hospital. Mrs. Alice Davenport is re cuperating at home following treatment at the local hospital. Mrs. Stella Tucker is a pa tient at the local hospital un dergoing treatment. ATTEND BEAUTY FESTIVAL Mrs. Margaret Morse, Miss Valerie Morse, Mrs. Madge Blackwell and Mrs. Julia Morse were visitors several days this week in Charlotte, N. C., attend ing the Beauty Festival held at Park Center and Charlotte Ho tel. WOMAN’S CLUB TO MEET Hie Joanna Woman’s Club will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. S (to night) at 7 o’clock at Joanna Club House. Mrs. Walter Byars and her group will serve as hos tesses for the meeting. This is an important meeting. The pres ident, Mrs. Lavinia Cooley, urges all members to be present. HOMECOMING PLANNED The 11th homecoming cf Ep- worth Methodist Church in Jo anna will be held Sunday, October 15. Bishop Paul Hardin will bring the morning message and dedi cate the educational building. Dr. Brice Herbert, Greenwood district superintendent, will be present. Dinner will be served on the church grounds at 1 o’clock. All former members and pastors, along with the church’s active members are cordially invited to attend. Rev. J. Herbert Thomas is pas tor of the church. REVIVAL BEING HELD The fall revival at the Church of God in Joanna is now in prog ress and will continue through Sunday, October 15. Rev. Mrs. Ruth Starnes of Greenwood, is bringing the mes sages each evening starting at 7:00. Special music and singing each evening. The pastor, Rev. Howard J. Hanley, invites every one to attend. YOUTH GROUP HAS OUTING The youth group of the First Presbyterian Church of Joanna, enjoyed a wiener roast and hay- ride Saturday evening at Lake Murray. Rev. and Mra. Hugh PoL lard, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Welchel accompanied the group. PINK AND BLUE SHOWER On Saturday evening friends gathered at the home of Mra. J. P. Shumpert honoring Mrs. Bob bie Dillard with a pink and blue shower. Appropriate games and con tests for the occasion were en joyed. Mrs. Charlie Nabors, Jr , host ess, assisted by Mrs. Stampert, served refreshments consisting of a salad plate, cake squares, nuts and drinks. The honoree was showered with many lovely and useful gifts.
