THE CLINTON CHRONICLE Thursday, September 21, 1961 Greenwood Fair Opens Sept. 25th The Greenwood Fair with an expected attendance of 50,000 will open for a full week's run September 25 through September 30. The James E. Strates 50-car Railroad Show, along with its huge menagerie of wild and trained animals, will furnish the midway attraction. Emphasis this year will be on local entertainment and various kinds of crafts, including Moun tain Wood Carving, Ceramics making, etc. The eight buildings of inter esting exhibits will include the Museum of Nuclear studies from the Atomic Energy Commission of Oak Ridge, Tenn. Plans are being made for lo cal musical entertainment which will perform in the Exhibit Cir- I cle. A Championship Stock Car i Race is scheduled for Thursday i night. The Dog Show will be held Wednesday night. Doll Car riage and Tricycles Parades will be held in the Exhibit Circle Tuesday and Thursday after noon. White School Day will be Tuesday. The Colored School Day will be Thursday. In addition to the $6,000 in premium money, a number of valuable prizes will be given away, including a 1961 Ford and a Shetland Pony, Bridle and Saddle.
