Moon of Greer, were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. G. Murphy. The fol lowing Monday Mr. and Mrs. Murphy visited Mrs. Lillie Little field in Woodruff. Mr. and Mrs. BUI Tinsley and children, Toni and Susan, spent several days last week in Ocala. Fla , with the latter’s sister, Mrs. Floyd Crews, and Mr. Crews. CTrs. John Leopard and daugh ter, Lynn, of Newberry, were Monday visitors of Mr and Mrs. Colie Oswalt. Mrs. S. D. W'eathers, Sr., spent last week with her sister, Mrs. Corrie Fleming, in Spartanburg. She was the guest of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Weathers, in fereenwood over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Craig of Greenville, spent the week-end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Craig. Mr. and Mrs. J. E Boyce and daughters, Misses Barbara and Elaine Boyce were week-end guests of his mother, Mrs. R E. Boyce, in Lynchburg. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Abrams and daughter. Miss Linda Abrams, were Monday guests of Mr and Mrs. C. B Dickey in GreenviUe, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Blakely of Miami, Fla., who were visiting the Dickeys. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Niver and children. Mike and Betsy of Greensboro, N. C., were Sunday visitors of Mr and Mrs. W. W. Niver, Jr. Mr and Mrs. Edgar Hoover and children of Leesville, were re cent Sunday visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Nabors. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Koon and famUy attended the Koon family reunion on Sunday near Newber ry. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Willingham were week-end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Obie Willingham in Bre vard, N. C. During their stay they visited points of interest in the mountains. Mrs Lou McMurray and dau ghter, Lou Anne, have returned to their home in Whitmire follow ing a two weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Darnell and daughter, Phoebe, were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Pau Hazel in Calhoun Falls. Lit tle Missy returned home follow ing a visit with the Hazel fam ily. Friends will be interested to know Mrs. E H. Hunnicutt is convalescing at home followkig several days treatment at the lo cal hospital last week. Rev. and Mrs M. Allen Petty had a birthday on August 22. ATTENDING CAMP Alfred Niver. Miss Judy Mur- rah, Preston White, Miss Sara Whitmire and Frederick Whit mire, of Joanna, are attending band camp this week at Camp Fellowship on Lake Greenwood. The group will return Saturday. SUNDAY SCHOOL PARTY On Friday evening Mrs. Hack Prater entertained her Sunday school class of 10-year-old jun iors of E p w o r t h Methodist Church with a swimming party and cookout at the swimming pool and picnic shelter Ten chil dren enjoyeti the occasion In vited guests for the party were Rev. J Herbert Thomas and the superintendent of the children’s department, Mrs. J. B. Killian. TEEN-AGE CLUB ENJOYS PARTY ^ On Thursday evening following the teen-age club meeting Mrs. Lester Sweatt entertained the group with a party honoring her daughter, Gloria, on her 14th birthday. The youngsters enjoy ed party games, dancing and con tests Following this they were invited into the dining room for refreshments of cake and punch, served from the table appointed with a green cover over white, the pink and white birthday cake with lighted candles centering the table. Gloria was remembered with many nice gifts that were opened and passed Around 45 teen-agers attended the party. STEVENS-DAWKINS SAY WEDDING VOWS On Saturday at 6:00 p. m., Au gust 5, Miss Judy Stevens be came the bride of Ernest Leroy Dawkins. The Rev. James B. Mitchell, the bride's pastor, read the' double ring service at his home before relatives and close friends. The bride chose for her wedding a white street length dotted swiss nylon dress with full gathered skirt. The empire bodice featur ed sweetheart neckline, short cap sleeves and a white satin set in cumberbund which crossed in back and formed a bow in front Her accessories were white with matching carnation corsage The headpiece she wore was fash ioned in rows of lace with white satin bows The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Stevens of Joanna. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Erusus Leroy Dawkins of Newberry. Following a wedding trip Mrs Dawkins is residing with her pa rents in Joanna, while Mr. Daw kins is serving in the U. S. Army stationed at Fort Benning, Ga Mrs. Dawkins is a graduate of Clinton High School. Mr. Daw kins is a graduate of Newberry High School. BIRTHDAY DINNER GIVEN Saturday, August 12, W. O. Stewart observed a birthday. On Sunday he was pleasantly sur prised when Mrs. Stewart en tertained with an informal dinner at their home in his honor. Those attending the occasion were Rev. and Mrs. James Stewart and daughters, Susan and Linda, of Greenwood; Granny Davis, Mr! and Mrs. Ralph Riddle of Clin ton; Mr. and Mrs Charles Stew art and family of Columbia. SENIOR CLASS HAS OUTING On Saturday afternoon the sen ior Sunday school class of Ep- worth Methodist Church, along with their teacher, Hack Prater, enjoyed an outing and picnic at the cottage of Mr. and Mrs. R H. Frazier on Lake Murray. Dur ing the afternoon the group en joyed boating, skiing and swim ming. Invited guests for the oc casion were Rev. and Mrs. J Herbert Thomas and small dau ghter, Betty, Mrs. Sallie High tower, Mr. and Mrs. Frazier. Miss Brenda Chandler is a pa tient at the local hospital where she received minor surgery. Miss Katie Cromer of Kinards, has been discharged from the lo cal hospital following a tonsilec- tomy . Mrs Joyce Satterfield is recup erating following a stay and treat ment at the local hospital. Miss Evelyn Motes is recup erating at home following minor surgery at the local hospital. Brantley Bishop has been dis charged from the local hospital following a tonsilectomy. C. W.
