Mr. and Mrs. Jack Craft and children, of Newberry, were Sun day visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Ce cil O’Dell. Friends will be interested to know Mrs. W. C. Brown is re cuperating at her home on Till man Circle following surgery and a two week's stay at Joanna Hos pital. Mrs John Burnett, Jr., and little son, Kevin, accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Elton Bedenbaugh and son, Ricky, to Surfside Beach where they joined Mr. and Mrs. Karl Sease and daughter, Marilyn and vacationed last week. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Weaver vacationed last week at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Wait* vacationed last week in the moun tains of North Carolina where they visited points of interest. Mr. and Mrs. Wyman Livings ton and children, Virgie, Susan and Mane vacationed at Myrtle Beach last week. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hunmcutt, of Dallas, Texas, spent last week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hunnicutt. Mr and Mrs. James Simpson spent several days last week at Myrtle Beach. John M. Ross spent last week willi his daughter, Mrs. 8 L. Hair and Mr. Hair in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Holly, of Greenville, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Holly. Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Cole, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Millard Murphy and daughter. Gail, Mrs. Rufus Ballard and daughter, Libby, and Miss Shirley Estes vacationed last week at Ocean Drive Beach. On Friday they visited Mr. Stroud at the hospital in Co lumbia Mr and Mrs. Mack Brown and daughter, Mary Ann, and Miss Karen Surratt vacationed last week at Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Ida Swygert, of Atlanta, Ga., is visiting her daughter, Mrs. J. E. Shealy, her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Swygert for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Billy Waits and children and Miss Melinda Stroud spent the week-end at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Delany spent last week with their daugh ter, Miss Kitty Delany in Essex, Conn. Wright, Mr. and Mrs. James Turner spent last week at their cottage on Lake Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Chalk and sons, Bruce and Joe, vacationed last week in the mountains of North Carolina. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Riser and daughter, Lynn, spent Sunday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. C. R Riser in Lexington. On Wed nesday they visited Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Riser on Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. William Hatton and children, Carol, Bill and Mike, of Florence, spent last week with the former’s mother, Mrs. J. M. Hatton. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Craven and daughter, Gay, Miss Jo Elliott, of Georgetown, are vacationing this week at Myrtle Beach. On Sunday, July 9, Gay celebrated her 13th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Holt, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Gilliam are vacationing this week in the mountains of North Carolina CALLED CONFERENCE Next Sunday morning a Called Conference will be held at the morning worship service at Ep- worth Methodist Church. Craven, of Clinton, announce the birth of a daughter, Betty Joe. on July 8 at Joanna Hospital. Mrs. Craven is the former Miss Jessie Bar bery. Our sincerest thanks and may God bless you ‘MRS BLANCH MARSHELL AND FAMILY REHEARSAL PARTY On Saturday evening, July 1, following the rehearsal, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Atkins were hosts to members of the Johnson-Whit- mire wedding party for a party at their home. The living room and dining room held lovely mixed summer flower, arrangements. The ap pointed table was overlaid in white lace, centered with a floral arrangement in a crystal bowl flanked by crystal candelabra holding burning tapers. Following entertainment, the guests were served refreshments of cake squares, punch and salt ed nuts. JOHNSON-WHITMIRE VOWS SAID SUNDAY On Sunday, July 2, at high noon at the First Baptist Church, Joanna, Miss Doris Ann Johnson, of Newberry, daughter of Mr and Mrs. Joe Johnson, became the bride of Dear! Whit mire, of Joanna, son of Mrs. Clyde Atkins and the late Mr. Owens Whitmire. A program of music was pre sented by Mrs J. Herbert Thom as, pianist, and Mrs. Jerry Pitts, of Charlotte, N. C., soloist. Rev. James B. Miltchell offi ciated at the service, using the double ring ceremony. Hie bridew as escorted to the altar by her brother-in-law, Clif ton Holsonback. The bride was escorted to the dacron, street length dress with full gathered skirt. The princess bodice was self-embroidered and featured a low round neckline with short cap sleeves. She wore a matching pink straw hat with nose veil. She carried an orchid on a white sat<n Bible. Her only jewelry was u ingle, strand of pearls. The bride’s sister, Mrs. Clifton Holsonback, was matron of hon or. She was wearing pink street length cotton embroidered in pas tel shades. Her accessories were white and she carried a nosegay of pink and white carnations with matching ribbons.
