MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. William Perry Thomas of Joanna, announce the marriage of their daughter, Lo retta Marlene, to Vernon Otis Deberry of Corpus Chrlstl and Danbury, Texas, on May 17. The double ring ceremony was per formed in the presence of dose friends by Rev. Peter Dunn. The bride chose for her wed ding a white sheath dress with black accessories. Her corsage was white carnations. They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. El- dridge Sams. Until Mr. and Mrs. Deberry receive their discharges from the Navy, they will make their home at 709 James St., Flower Bluff, Corpus Christi, Texas. HOMECOMING AT CHURCH OF GOD The Church of God will have homecoming on Sunday, June 4. A former pastor, Rev. O. H. Tol- lison ,of Central, will be the guest speaker. Dinner will be served on the grounds at 1:00 p. m. The afternoon service will be gin at 2:00 o’clock and continue until 4:00 p. m. There will be special music and singing. SUMMER PROGRAM TO BEGIN The Joanna Foundation sum mer program will begin Monday, under the direction of Mrs. Fran ces Warner and Athletic Direc tor John I. Moore. Special programs for children will be crafts, sewing classes, Polka Tot Club, pre-teen and teen age Club. The recreation room will be open, with supervised games of ping pong, fore-par, shuffle board, and table games. Outdoor games will Include horseshoes and badminton. The library will be open at special hours, movies at various times, the ceramics classes will contin ue. The children’s program will be for 6 years olds and Up. POPPY SALE The Joanna Girl Scouts, under the direction of Mrs. Frances Warner and Mrs. Leroy Couch, sold poppies in Clinton on Satur day for the American Legion Auxiliary. When they completed their sales they were treated to a movie as guests of the Broad way Theater. WEEK-END AT BEACH Thirty-one members of the Jo anna teen-age club went by Foun dation bus to Myrtle Beach last week-end. Those accompanying the children were Mrs. Arthur League, Mrs. Lester Hair, Charlie Force, and John I. Moore. New members, 13 to 18, are invited to join the club. Dues are $1.00 for three months.
