City Court Fines Total $1,384.07 For Month Of April A total of $1,384 07 in fines and 304 days on the public works was levied against offenders in city court sessions during the month of April, according to the month ly report of the police department to city couiynl. The sentences were handed down by Recorder Henry M. Young. Leading the list of fines were four for $100 each and a 30-day prison sentence for five offen ders charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants Thirty-four were taken in for drunkeneness, with one released, four sentences suspended. $290.40 in fines and 214 days on the pub lic works being assessed. Three persons were charged J with speeding and reckless driv ing, and paid $149 Five were arrested for petty \ larceny, with one sentence sus pended and the others paying $234 Other charges and fines includ ed disorderly^ conduct, 4, one sentence suspended. $30 operat ing auto without driver’s license. 2. $52. all other offenses, 13, 2 suspended, 60 days and $159 Nine were taken in for investi gation or on suspicion aud re leased. Leaving Clinton in 1917 with the Rainbow Division were W P Burdette, Walter Richburg, Floyd Adair, Clyde Lankford, Sloan Norris, and Mr. Anderson Mr Norris and Mr Anderson are the only local surviving members of this organization. The Rainbow was one of the first complete divisions to land in France and was the first to hold a front line as a complete di vision. It was given the name Rainbow because it was made up of members from 27 states Gen eral Douglas McArthur, who was then a Brig. General and in the division, gave it its name Fighting the entire time from February, 1918, to the end of the war, the division then went into Germany with the army of occu pation until May, 1919 the city.
