Using fall flowers, dried mate rials and accessories a workshop was conducted, with members par ticipating. Projects for the year, in which the group will join the Clinton garden Club Council, were discuss ed. They include a bridge tourna ment and therapy program in which they will assist the teachers of special classes at Hampton Ave nue School and Bailey School. A social hour and refreshments were enjoyed at the close of the meeting. Drop-In Honors Student Pastor, Wife Honoring Rev. William Little field, student pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church, and Mrs. Lit tlefield, a drop-in was given on Sunday afternoon from three until five o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Benjamin, Jr, at 302 Shands Sstreet. Jacobs. He has attended Clinton High School and served six months active Army duty. He is in the .Army Reserve. After mid-October the couple will live in an apartment at 206V* North Sloan street Sunbonnet Club Welcomes Two New Members Resuming regular monthly meet ings after the summer recess, the Sunbonnet Garden Club met Mon day afternoon at the home of Mrs Harry Ayers. Two new members, Mrs. John T. Young and Mrs. A. C. Young, were welcomed. During the business ses sion the year’s work and projects were discussed. Projects include: garden therapy, a bridge benefit to hlep beautify the Scout Hut. and plans for work at the county home on special occasions. A dessert course was served by the hostess and asssitant hostesses, Mrs. Clyde Ehrhardt and Mrs. Howard Smith Bouquets of lavender dahlias were used in decoration for the meeting Mrs. Hammet Gives Dessert Bridge Thursday afternoon Mrs. Ben H. Hammet gave a dessert bridge for members of her club Throe tables were laid for re freshments prior to the games. An arrangement of yellow roses to gether with mixed bouquets dec orated the card rooms. Top honor was won by Mrs. Reese H. Young. Garden Club Sponsor Camp, Fire Girls Conservation Study As part of their garden therapy program, the Yellow Jassamine Garden Club is sponsoring a conser vation study to be made with the Clinton area Camp Fire girls. A! Camp Fire girls are eligible to participate and will work on their projects in their own groups. Wilkes at the meeting of the Caro lina Wren Garden Club on Monday aftenroon The group met at the home of Mrs. J. ,P. Prather, with Mrs John Griffin Pitts and Mrs. George Watts Copeland as co-host esses. Seasonal arrangements were made in a number of containers and displayed. Making these were M.rs W C. Baldwin. Mrs. Hugh Ray. Mrs. Gary Holcombe. Mrs George Watts Copeland, and Mrs. Fred Holcombe Mrs Wilkes told something of the history of ceram ics, molded one and showed a number ot finished products. Mrs. Fred Holcombe, president, who opened the meeting with a poem, later presided over the business session. TTie garden ther apy program for the special school classes was discussed. A sweet course was served at the close of the meeting PTA Meet Oct. 4; Membership Drive Began Sept. 28 Preceeding the first meeting of the 1960-61 year to be held on Octo ber 4 at 8 p m., the Hampton Ave nue Parent-Teacher Association yesterday launched the member ship drive The meeting will feature a gener al business session and a get ac quainted period when teachers will be in the home rooms to meet par ents. • —— Mrs. George Frady and Mrs | Harry Baldwin are co-chairmen of the membership committee and an effort is being made to have each parent belong and participate in the organization The room with the largest percentage of parents joining will win a prize A second prize will be given to each grade group with the largest percentage : joining Dr. John W Stevenson of the Presbyterian College faculty is president of the organization for the coming year. Co-chairmen of the program committee are Mrs. James Leighfon and Sgt John Daniluck. Four general meetings have t>een planned—October, November. De cember and April. ' Project for the year is the estab lishment of a library for the school | and a room has been set aside for this purpose.
