Utms 92171 Kdnri WasiM He was married twice His first marriage waa to Mias Ola Susan Smith, who died in IMS Surviving from this marriage are two sons, W Leon Ward of Sfemr tanburg; and Margin Khifh Ward of Rt. 1. MountviUe. and four grandchildren. . His second marriage was to Miss Lidie E. Smith who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. J. C Crowder of MountviUe and Mrs H. F. Coleman of Greenwood. Funeral services were conducted Friday at 4:00 p. m. at the Cross HU1 Baptist Church by the Rev. W. M. Ussery and the Rev. James B. Mitchell. Burial was in the Baptist cemetery at Cross HiU. Pallbearers were nephews: Tal- madge, Marion, and EUis Crowder, Will Irby Smith, Ernest Coleman, and Curtis Smith SACRED ACRES PRAYER BAND WILL MEET The ReV. G. M. Clinton defeated Aiken 9 2 >0 their first game last Friday behind the three- hit pitching of BiU Wilson of Whit mire Wilson also -contributed 4 home run to the game. Btbby WatW of TTiornwell also hit a home run in this game. Saturday night North Augusta de feated Clinton 6-3. Clinton seemed to be on edge and made several er rors in this game;,which caused their downfall. Johnny Alexander of Whitmire was the leading hitter in this game, getting a single and double in three trips to *he plate. In the third game Clinton pony Leaguers played in the tournament they defeated Tri-City which is compostd of Ware Shoals, Abbe ville, and Greenwood, by a score of 5-3. This was the best game Clinton played in the tournament. Bill Wil son of Whitmire was again the winning pitcher. Wiliam Graham was the leading batter of this game, getting two for four. Tuesday night Clinton and North Augusta hooked up in a brilliant ball game, for five complete in nings of play, with North Augusta ahead by a score of 1-0. In the top half of the sixth inning the strain of having to travel over one hun dred and fifty miles a day to play ball began to tell on the Clinton boys and they made several errors Bulova J. Wilmot Shealy coaches the Hampton team Frank Taylor Gray Court—Frank Taylor, 65, of Rt. 2, Gray Court, died at the Lau rens County hospital at 2:60 p. m. Wednesday following four days of illness. Mr. Taylor suffered a heart attack here Saturday afternoon. He was a son of the late Ben and Lou Handback Taylor, and had lived near here for the past 30 years He formerly lived near Simp- sonville. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of Warrior Creek Baptist Church. His wife, Mrs. Ella Weathers Taylor, died in April of last year. Surviving are a son, David H Taylor of Gray Court; three sis ters, Mrs. Mattie Leopard of Simp- sonvill: Mrs. Mamie Tumblin of Fork Shoals; and Mrs Tecora La- Foy of Pineville.
