Hie four-day session will be cli maxed with the reading of ministe rial appointments on the final day, Friday, by Bishop Nolan B. Har mon of Charlotte. Among the Methodist pastors from Clinton attending conference are Rev. Joel E. Cannon, pastor of The Presbytery's Senior High Fel-1 Broad Street Methodist Church; low ship is expected to enroll almost Rev. B. A. Wesley, pastor of Bailey Memorial Methodist Church; and Young People In Conference At College Next Week Presbyterian young people of Congaree Presbytery will begin their annual summer conference at Presbyterian College next Monday, making the third straight week of church-sponsored meetings on the PC campus 100 boys and girls for this confer ence, which will continue through the following Saturday, July 2. Serving as director for the con ference •will be the Rev. Sherwood Harvard, pastor of the Forest Lake Presbyterian Church of Columbia. The Congaree young people will arrive at PC just two days after the close of the 13th annual Synod ical Training School for Presbyte rian wx>men of the state. And the week before the women came here, Presbyterian College made its fa cilities available to the Leadership School for the Senior High Fellow ship of the South Carolina Synod. Nix, 33, driver of the truck, and Mark Rodgers, 36, both of Saluda. Hie hospital re. ported that Rodgers suffered head and internal injuries and Nix re ceived head injuries. Also injured in the accident were Lorenro Storey, 34, also of Saluda, who was reported in good condition at the hospital, and Tony Rodgers, 5-year-old son of Mark Rodgers, who was dismissed from the hos pital Sunday morning. Saturday, at what is now Hamptoo Avenue Elementary School, whcih was the high school in 1940. with a reception for the ' returning members of the das* and their families Former teachers assisted in en tertaining and refreshment* were served in the cafeteria. Following the reception n guided tour was made of the new high school on North Adair Street Extension. A banquet Saturday night at Hotel Mary Muagrove and a drop-in Sun day afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Sloan were other features of the class reunion. The smorgasbord style dinner drew 40 members of the class of 68 living, and wives and husbands and guests swelled the total to 84. Talks were made by Miss Roea Ma- haffey, now of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Mr. Sloan, home room teachers of the class in their senior year, and Mrs. Raymond Pitts, first grade teacher at a number in the group. Other former teachers were guests of various class members and spoke briefly. John L. Sloan introduced Mis Mahaffey, Reese Young pre sented Mrs. Pitts, and Joe E. Shaw gave the introduction for Mr. Sloan. Decorations fitted the occasion. Flowers were arranged in lunch boxes; apples were presented each teacher f also included were favors of miniature book satchels stuffed with gift items such as pencils, note pads, and emery boards; dolls dressed as seniors in caps and gowns; apple tree, with switches handy; bulletin board with old pic tures of the class and teams; and old copies of The Sentinel, school newspaper. Prizes were given to Dewey Trammell, of Richmond, Ind., who came the longest distance; John L. Sloan and Ruth Bouknight Kii«, who tied for the honor of having the most children (five each); Mrs. King, who has been married the longest; Thomas Ramage, who married most recently; Jeanette Gaskin Farmer, who has the oldest child; and Ralph Lawson, who has the youngest child. President of the class, Mrs. King, presided over the evening’s pro gram.
