Bankers, of ('linton. atlended a meeting of the executive councijl of the South Carolina Bankers Association in Columbia last Thursday. Mr. Vance is a vice-president of the council. The (oumil discussed many of the details of the recently adopted plan to aid the l niversity of South Carolina in establishing a "chair of banking” in the School of Business Administration. The funds to finance this proje< t will lx- derived from eontributions from the corn- men lal banks ot the state. Miss Goodwin Wins Honors At Winthrop The Winthrop College Alumnae Association presented its Henry R Sims Scholarship to Martha Susan Goodwin of Laurens County at the annual meeting of the association Saturday morning at the college. The $100 scholarship is presented annually to an outstanding rising senior at the Rock Hill institution with the highest scholastic average and with qualities of leadership, character and service. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs B A Goodwin of Laurens. Miss Goodwin is a French and English major at the South Carolina Col lege for Women She u active in the Winthrop Christian Association and in West minster Fellowship, serving cabi net positions with both orgamza tious. Next year Miss Goodwin will be assistant chief marshal serving at | official college functions She was a junior marsh*! this year. The Sims award recipient is a Member of Winthrop's Student Speaker!
