Lowman, Jr., gave an interesting account of her recent visit to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Instabul, and Rome. Ihe receiving rooms were beau tifully decorated with roses and ris. In the dining room where sandwich es, cakes, and punch were served in buffet style the table was overlaid with a cut work doth, and centered with a mixed bouquet of garden flowers. Assisting in entertaining and serv ing were Mrs. James S. Gray, Mrs. Joseph M. Gettys, Mrs. H. E. Stur geon, and Mrs. Edward Campbell. Episcopal Women Confederacy Unit Reelects Mrs. Moffatt Delegates reelected Mrs. James S. Moffatt of Due West, director of the Ridge District Daughters of the Confederacy as the group held its annual conference here Friday. Mrs. Frank Fleming of Abbeville, was renamed secretary, and Mrs. B. B. Stroups of Greenwood, was reelected vice-president. The 77 women attending the ses sion at Hodges Hall of Broad Street Methodist Church, heard Dr. Mar shall W. Brown of Presbyterian College speak on the heritage left by the Confederate soldiers. Greetings were also brought for Clinton by Councilman James P. Sloan. Division president Mrs. W. A. King, also spoke following Dr. Browns’ talk. The girls’ chorus of Clinton High School, directed by Harry Bauk- night, presented several music se lections, accompanied by Mrs. D. G. Creighton A luncheon was held at Mary Musgrove Hotel. The district will meet with the with an informal question and an swer period. During a short business session in which several club projects were discussed for the purpose of raising funds for a trip. Delicious refresh ments were served by the hostess es, Mrs. Mary Tucker, Mrs. Ruby Lyda and Mrs. George Thompson. Several new members were wel comed into the club at this meet ing. Junior, Intermediate Work Is Studied Junior and Intermediate work in the church was studied by the cir cles of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in their meet ing on Monday. Mrs. George Watts Copeland was hostess to members of circle No. 1 in the afternoon at hfer home. Sev eral members took part on the pro gram which was conducted by Miss Nannie Young Tribble. Later a sweet course and nuts were served. In the evening circle No. 2 met at the church. Mrs. Marion Nabors, assisted by other members, led the program which had been arranged by Miss Katherine Blakely. Mrs. Nolon Carter, chairman, gave the devotional. During a business session plans were discussed for Group Confer ence for this district which will be held here on June 14. During a social hour the hostess, Mrs. Nabors, served a sweet course. and informal entertainment were also enjoyed there. Mrs. Jack Durant led the pro gram which was opened with prayer by the president, Mrs. Michael Tur- Wedneafiay, April 13, when the Study Club met at the home of Mrs. Robert S. Owens. Mrs. Robert Wysor was chairman of the afternoon’s pro gram and gave “reminiscences of Albert Larker ” Later in the afternoon a salad course was served. Young and Mrs. Dave Roberts were hostess to a group of friends on Saturday at noon for a luncheon at Hotel Mary Musgrove. Crystal was used throughout for the table appointments and center ing the buffet table was a lovely arrangement containing iris, roses and snapdragons in pastel tints. On the head table were tulips, roses and Dutch iris. Bridge Luncheon In Week's Parties Among social events of the week was the bridge luncheon given Fri day by Mrs. Perry M. Moore and Mrs. D. B. Smith at the home of the former. Guests were invited'for seven ta bles and a number of morning games were enjoyed after which a hot luncheon course and dessert were served. Roses and iris were featured in the varied spring ar rangements used in decoration throughout the card rooms. Mrs. James L. Walker and Mrs. Eugene King were winners of top and second score prises.
