Wilson of Gray Court, was elected first, vice-president of the Laurens County Home Demonstration Council at the annual spring meeting last Tuesday afternoon at the Youngs Community Center. Other officers named at the meet ing were: treasurer, Mrs James Watson of Hickory Tavern; south district director of the county, Mrs Newman Shouse of Clinton. Hold over officers of the council are: Mrs Guy Mahon, president; Mrs Arthur Childress, second vice-presi dent: and Miss Mary McDaniel, secretary. • Mrs Childress presided at the meeting an introduced the guest speaker. Representatives were present from Wofford College, Furman, the University of South Carolina and Presbyterian College An officers training school for the fraternity w ill be held August 22-25 at Wake Forest College, W’inston- Salem, N. C. W. E. Campbell Dies At Home Near Here William Edward Campbell, 86, died early Thursday morning at his home, Rt. 1, Clinton, after several years of declining health. He was a native of North Caro lina, but had made his home' in Laurens County for 38 years. He was a member of the Church of God on Elizabeth Street, Clinton Mills. He was twice married, first to Mrs. Janie Sutfen Campbell. Sur viving from this marriage are three daughters, Mrs. Kallie Price of Camden; Mrs. Emma Price of Co lumbia; and Mrs. Glennie Ledford of Spartanburg. Also surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Hattie Wilson Campbell; five sons, William, Woodrow, Lewis, Clarence and Temple Campbell, all of Clinton; three daughters, Mrs. Maggie Prince and Mrs. Ida Scott, both of CUhton; and Mrs Annie Brown of Atlanta; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchil dren.'' He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Funeral services wet* conducted Saturday at 3:00 p. m. at the Church of God on Elizabeth Street, Clinton Mill, by the Rev. J. L. Jenkins. Burial was in Bethany Church cem)^ tery near Clinton.
