Starting from bum ingtrash. the fire quickly got out of control due to high wands. The build ing contained two tractors and other farm equipment Clinton firemen prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. TV estimated damage was $10,000 Funeral Services • For C. D. M r Dunaway died Thursday at j 6.00 p. m. at his home near Cross Anchor after seven months illness. He was employed by ThomweU Orphanage for a number of years. Surviving are his mother. Mrs. Florence Dunaway of Clinton; his wife, Mrs. Janie Crocker Dunaway of the home; five daughters. Miss Linda Dunaway of the home, Mrs. Mattie Fulmer of Laurens; Mrs. Helen Ingle of Pacolet; Mrs. Rosa- lee Nelson of Augusta. He had received his MA from North Carolina in 1954 after obtain ing, his BA degree from Baylor in 1947. TwoTtours of duty as a navigator in the’US Air Force interrupted his education. He served for more than four years during World War II and for more than a year during the Korean War. A native of Memphis, Tenn., Clarke is married to the former Gertrude Sowell, and they have three children. GEORGE W. CLARKE George Weston Clarke, associate professor of history at Presbyterian College, has served on the faculty here since 1956.
