M. Turner, presiding. -— Mrs. James. Leighton gave the ' devotional. The program was under the direction of Mrs. James' Mac donald who discussed "Missionary Districts of the Episcopal Church Through the World.” Each district will be studied during the year. An^announcement was made of the annual meeting of the Episcopal Church Women of the Diocese af Upper South Carolina to be held at Trinity Church, Columbia, January 19 and 20. Plans were made to hold several thrift sales during the year. The meeting closed with the auxil iary prayer. Entertains Club On Tuesday Mrs. B. F. Wingard entertained members of her Tuesday bridge club last week for a number of afternoon games. Tables were arranged for cards in a pretty setting of pom poms. Top honors went to Mrs. Edwin A. Par nell, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, who was visiting here and was a special guest for the occasion. Fol lowing the progressions guests were invited into the dining room where refreshments of ham biscuits, sandwiches and sweets were served in buffet style. White carnations and lighted tapers centered the table. Sara Glenn Circle Has January Meeting Members of the Sara Glenn Circle of Broad Street Methodist Church met on Monday evening at the home of Mrs. J. B. Arnold, with Mrs. W. S. Horne and Mrs. R. G. Wrenn as sisting as hostesses. A program on the work of Meth odist women in Africa had been ar ranged by Mks. Joe Davidson. She gave the devotional and contribut ing articles were Mrs. H. W. Cle- land and Mrs J. K. Haselden. During*the evening sandwiches, cheese biscuts, cookies and Rus sian tea were served. ■V.-wi IfP "■ •I Dessert Bridge Given For Club 1 Mrs. Tench P. Owens gave a des sert bridge on Thursday afternoon for members of her club. Two tables were in play following the serving of a sweet course. Score prizes,went to Mrs. W. P. Jacobs, 3rd, who played for an absent mem ber,. and Mrs. L. S'. Reddeck. Greenery with seasonal plants made a pretty setting for the games \ Club Entertained On Friday Afternoon Friday afternoon Mrs. Goyne Simpson entertained members of her bridge club assembling players for two tables. Bowls of camellias added to the attractiveness of the card rooms. After the progressions top award was presented to Mrs. Roy Casque, a club visitor, and second score prize to Mrs. A. J. Thackston. Lat er in the afternoon a salad and sweet course were served. CENTURY CLUB The Century Club will meet at 4 o’clock Tuesday afternoon, Janu ary 19, at the home of Mrs. Walter A. Johnson.
