Mr and Mrs. Ike Jones spent last week with her son, Pete Kelly and Mrs. Kelly in Gaffney Mr. and Mrs. A M. Shumate, Jr.,, and Denise were recent Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs Orin Davis in Greenville v Mrs. Hilda Campbell and chil dren, of Charlotte, N. C.. will be here for Christmas with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Ft. C. Burdette. Mrs David Word, Miss Sue Word and Miss Marie Weir were among those attending the annual Music Festival in Spartanburg recently. Kenneth Trammell, freshman at Furman University in Greenville, arrived home' Thursday for the Christmas, holidays with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell. Other college students arriving home during the week-end were Joe Lark of Clemson College, son ot Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Lark; A1 Williams. Tne Citadel in Charles ton, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Wil liams, and Miss Barbara Roberts of Winthrop College in Rock Hill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David H. Roberts. Ray Riley, FN of the U. S. Navy, arrives today for a 25-day leave with Mrs. Riley and son. Fireman Riley*is stationed at Jacksonville Beach, Jacksonville, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Trammell, Ken Trammell and Mr. and Mrs. William Stone, Debbie and Henry attended the Trammell family Christmas party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grady Smith near Clin ton Sunday. Alvin Satterfield, AN, arrived home the past week from the Naval Air Station in Almeda, Calif., for a visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Satterfield PROGRESSIVE PARTY ENJOYED On last Tuesday evening the Hor izon group of Campfire girls enjoy ed a Christmas progressive party. The group met first at the home of Miss Sandra Mills for juice, go ing on to the home of Miss Helen Edge for the salad, the main course was served at the home ^ the lead er. B Sharp!on Jr., and children, of Savannah, Ga Gifts were exchanged by the fam ily during the day FIFTH GRADE CAMP FIRE PARTY Another group enjoying their Christmas party in the beautifully i decorated Community Building was the fifth grade Campfire girls. The i party was held on Monday evening. Christmas songs and games were enjoyed. Delicious party refreshments were served and later gifts exchang ed from under the lighted Christ mas tree. WOMAN S CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY The Lydia Woman's Club met on Thursday evening for their regu lar meeting and for the annual Christmas party The Community Building was lovely in its Christmas decorations Mrs R. K. Whitmire, retiring president, presided over the busi ness session at which time plans,for m xt yeaV were discussed. A very timely devotional was given by Miss Nellie Osborne on the theme of “Giving to Others.” At the close of the business meet ing Mrs. Whitmire presented the gavel to Mrs. Ralph Riddle, the newly elected president. Other offi cers are: Mrs. R E Whitmire, vice president; Mrs. Bill Fennell, sec retary; Mrs. B. F* Lark, treasur er, and Mrs Clyde Trammell, pro gram chairman Mrs. David Word directed sever al entertaining games after which fruit cake, coffee, nuts were served On each plate was a lighted candles in a candy candle holder. Gifts were exchanged from the lighted tree. Hostesses were VMrs,. B. F. Sinclair. Mrs. Ralph Black well and Mrs Fennell. ' CHRISTMAS PROGRAM AT CHURCH The Pentecostal Holiness Church will present a Christmas program, ‘The Christmas Angels,” drf Wed nesday evening at 7:30 p m. A candlelight service will precede the program. ^ The public is cordially invited .. YOUNG GIRL HAS PARTY AT KINDERGARTEN In- celebration of her sixth birth day on December 18, Susie Bryan was honored with a birthday party at Kindergarten Thursday morning The children sang songs and play ed games along with the regul.ir kindergarten work Susie's lovely pink birthday cake was cut ami served with ice cream and candy canes Each child was given a favor. Mrs. Koscoe Bryan. Susie's moth er, assisted Miss Nellie Osborne, kindergarten teacher, with the party. COMMUNITY PARTY WEDNESDAY Everyone is invited to the Christ mas party to be held from 8:00 a m. to 6:00 p m. on Wednesday at Providence school dining hall. Refreshments will be served and j Santa Claus w ill be present to see the children during the day Lydia cotton Mills is sponsoring I the party and is giving the bags of fruit which will be given out, at the party, to all Lydia Mills employees \ and their families upon receipt of the cards given the employees.
