Bell and Miss Minnie Ray were feted with a hodsewarming at their new home on North Adair St. Hostesses for the occasion were Mrs. Floyd Pitts, Mrs. C. D. Pitts, Mrs. W. C. Milam, Mrs. Ray Pitts Sand Mlrs. John M. Ray. The home was beautifully deco rated for the occasion in a Christ mas motif. Choir boys with white tapers, greenery and berries adorn ed the mantel and other arrange ments for the living room were a church scene and a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and red carnations. Guests were shown through the home and in the dining room Mrs. W. Roy Pitts served cake and nuts and Miss Bonnie Pitts poured cof fee. Centering the table was a five branched candelabra with lighted white tapers placed on a reflector encircled with holly. White candles in silver holders were also on the buffet with a red and white ar rangement. Later the gifts were presented and opened. The hostesses’ gifts to the honoree were brass andirons. Mrs. McSween gave a brief resume of American music, citing the various forms, and later playing and presenting her pupils in some of her own com positions, several of which already i have been published. Mrs. Edgar ! Sadler sang “Not A Star,” a popular composition by Mrs. McSween. During the afternoon the club’s newly organized choral group pre- | sented a program of special Christ- | mas music under the direction of | Mrs. Sadler. They sang “Russian jCarol” (Metzoff), and “Jesus, the Flower” (Lorenz). Taking part were Mrs. Sadler, Mrs. J. D. Mc Kee, Mrs. Heath Copeland, Mrs. D. G. Creighton, Mrs. Henderson Pitts, Mrs. J. P. Johnston, Mrs. Julian Coleman, and Miss Luva McDon ald, accompanist. The recent Increase in federation dues was discussed at the meeting and it was decided that a commit tee, to be appointed by the club president, would look into the pros- pest of raising club dues to offset the national increase. A committee composed of Mrs. Edwin Farnell, Mrs. Judson Davis, Mrs. Harry McSween, and Mrs. Paul Mulier, was asked to present a project report for the current year at the February meeting. Following the business session and program, refreshments were served by Mrs. Hogan, Mrs. Sadler and Mrs. Johnston. Entertain West Circle December Meeting Mrs. L. M. Dawkins and Mrs. S. B. Loftis were joint hostesses to the West Circle of the First Baptist Church on Tuesday evening at the recently completed borne of the for mer. Mrs. Peart Blackman presided over a program concerning the Lot College Dames Hold Christmas Party The College Dames met at the home of Mrs. James Oeland on Thursday, December 3, for the an nual Christmas party. About 40 members attended and brought Christmas decorations to be uled at the County Home. These were plac ed on the hall table near the en trance. The home was decorated throughout in Christmas green and white. A small tree on a low table in the den held small life-like birds. The dining table had as its center- piece a candelabra tree from Swe den, with white candles and white Christmas figurines. Coffee, fruit cake slices, cookies and candies Moon Christmas offering. I Door Decorations Discussed at Meeting | Door decorations were the topic of the program for the December meeting of the Yellow Jasmine Garden Club held on Monday aft-, emoon at the home of Mrs. William Johnson with Mrs. Nolon Suddeth as co-hostess. Cannon and Mrs. j John Madden presented the pro gram on door decorations, showing designs for both front and back doors and telling how they were made During the social hour sandwich es. cheese straws, cake and hot punch were served Frankie Cauley Has Party On Birthday In observance of her ninth birth day Frankie Cauley was given a party on Saturday afternoon. Fran kie, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cauley, was nine years old December 8. Assisting Mrs Cauley were Mrs. Joe Holland and Mrs. Abit Alexan der. The girls enjoyed bingo during the afternoon and winners were Mary Bailey Vance, Brenda Bald win, Jan King, Jane Davis, Lyn wood Cox and Sara Weldon Jack- son. The pink and white birthday cake centered the refreshment table. Decorated cake squares were served with other party refreshments and favors were given each child. Christmas ornaments and green ery appointed the home for the par ty. Lutheran Women Met Monday The regular monthly meeting of the United Lutheran Church Women of St. John's Lutheran Church met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Ace Workman, Jr., on Young Drive, with Mrs. J. E. Boyce as co hostess. The program, "The Born In Us Today,’’ was led by Sirs. Frank Bo land, Sr., with several members as sisting. Following the business session a salad and sweet course were served. The Christmas theme was used in decorations and refreshmnts. Mrs. Cannon Is Bridge Club Hostess Tuesday afternoon Mrs. Arnold M. Cannon was hostess to members of her bridge club. Two tables were in play with sal ad and sweet courses being served after the progressions. Mrs. Frank F. Fowler, a club visitor, made top score and bingo prize went to Mrs. John W. Finney, Jr. Pink chrysan themums combined with pine made a pretty mantel arrangement for the living room.
