CHURCH CLASS HAS PARTY j The Youth class of the Church of God enjoyed a party Saturday eve ning at the church. Mrs. Oliver Howard directed a number of in- itcresting games. There were 18 Nabors, Mr. and Mrs. Nabors and children. Dale and Dennis. MISS MURPHY ENTERTAINED Enteratining Miss Myrtle Murphy prior to her marriage Saturday, Au gust 15 to Hal Foreman, Mrs. La- vinia Cooley and Mrs. Frank Simp son, Jr., were hostesses at a miscel laneous shower at Mrs. Simpson’s home on Saturday. Throughout the party rooms pink gladioli, roses and begonia made a lovely setting. A white organdy cover over pink was used in the din ing room where an arrangement of pink ladioli, begonia and roses was used on the table with silver candel abra holding pink tapers and pink satin ribons and grapes completed the setting. Dainty sandwiches, cheese biscuits, petit fours, nuts, mints and punch were served. Miss Murphy received many love ly gifts which were presented in a novel way. Miss Doris Phillips, also an Au gust bride-elect and bridesmaid in Miss Murphy's wedding, and Miss .Peggy Jo Ellis of Greenville, who Is visiting Miss Eugenia Byars, were guests at the party. CLARK O. KINARD PASSES Clark O. Kinard, 59, of 218 Brown ing Ave., died early Friday morning at the Joanna hospital after an ill ness of two days. Mr. Kinard was born in the New Hope section of Newberry County, a son of the late J. J. and Mamie Oxner Kinard. For the past 17 years he had made his home in Joanna where he was connected with the Joanna Mills. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clin ton, and was a former member of the church council. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Long Kinard of Joanna; two sons, Owens Kinard and Carl Kinard, both of Joanna; two brothers, George Tommy Bovce of Fort Lee. , , , Ya . spent several days last week * present for the affair - Kinard of Greer; and James Kinard of Newberry; two sisters, Mrs. Wiliiafn Leitiey and Mrs. Vera Liv ingston, both of Pomaria. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at 3:30 p. m. at St. John’a Lutheran Church in Clinton by tbe Rev. L. Alien Wertz, Jr., and the Rev. James B. Mitchell. E. Brown. Mrs. Prater received a host of gifts. HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Little Curtis Lever celebrated his first birthday with a party Satur day afternoon. Mrs. Ellie Kelley and Miss Honey Brown assisted Mrs. Lever in enteraining the 15 small guests. The birthday cake was white with a corral and cowboys as decora tion. The cake was served with ice cream, mints and chips. Each child was given a party hat and w-histle as favors. Pictures were made to be sent to Curtis father, Lewis Lever, who is stationed in England with the Air Force. He received many nice gifts. The party rooms were decorated with balloons and crepe paper streamers. The refreshment table was covered with crepe paper and balloons were also used there.
