Mixed garden flowers were at tractively arranged in the home and in the dining room the table was appointed with pink roses. Buffet refreshments of assorted sandwich es, ham biscuit, and sweets were served. The hostess’ gift to Miss Todd was silver. Dinner Party Given Friday Evening Friday evening at the Hopewell Community Club Mr. and Mrs. Pringle Copeland entertained with a dinner party. Thirty-six friends were invited for the occasion and dinner was served in buffet style. An oblong bowl filled with roses centered the buffet table and on the mantle and each table laid for the guests were summer bouquets of roses and zinnias. Miss Neely Copeland ’Feted On Birthday In observance of her ninth birth day Monday, July 13, Neely Cope land invited eight little girl friends to the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pringle Copeland for a cook-out. Games were enjoyed and supper was cooked over an outdoor fire. Wesleyan Guild Has July Meet The Wesleyan Service Guild met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. P. M. Pitts. Mrs. L. O. Edwards led the pro gram on “Building Christian Char acter in Youth.” Mrs. Winfred Nor ris gave the devotional and Misses Dorothy and Mary Frances Pinson contributed to the program. During the business session Mrs. Don Creighton was appointed chair man of local church activates for the Guild. Dainty refreshments were served during the social hour. Little Friends Help Celebrate Birthday Sunday afternoon eight little girl friends gathered at the home of Toni Scheele, 302 Calvert Avenue, to help celebrate her ninth birthday. Toni is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. K. A. Scheele. Games were enjoyd on the lawn and later refreshments served in picnic style. The birthday cake was beautifully decorated in white and pink. Toni was remembered with a number of gifts. Entertains Thursday With Luncheon Entertaining for her daughter. Mrs. Donald Mann, of Lake Wales, Fla., who was visiting here, Mrs. J. B. Templeton was hostess for a luncheon on Thursday at the Wal lace House in Newberry. Colorful bouquets of summer flow ers adorned the luncheon tables where covers were laid for twenty- eight guests. A three course lunch eon was served. Informal Party Honors Couple At an informal gathering Thurs day evening, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. NEIL Presbyterian Church Rites Unite Miss Mitchell, Mr. Neil Dr. M. A. Macdonald and the Rev. Lewis S. Hay officiated at the mar riage of Miss Elizabeth Hay Mitch ell to Marshall Banks Neil, II, of Clover and Clinton, Saturday at 5:30 p. m. at Second Presbyterian Church. Mr Neil, son of Mrs. Neil, of Bal timore, and the late Mr. Neil, was graduated from Thomwell High School, Presbyterian College and Columbia Seminary. He is serving as pastor of Morton Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, where the cou ple will live after a honeymoon in Virginia. Their address will be 1068 Morton Circle starting July 29. Mrs. Neil is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Marion Mitchell, of Wadmalaw Island. She is a grad uate of both Ashley Hall and Ers- kine College. July, 14 with a party at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Adair. About 30 little friends invited for the occasion enjoyed games and birthday activities. Miss Brenda Fallow Celebrates Birthday On the occasion of her fourteenth birthday, Brenda Fallaw was hon ored with a party by her mother, Mrs. L. V. Fallaw and Mrs. Laney Saturday evening at the Clinton Mill Community House. Games were enjoyed during the evening and later refreshments of ice cream, cake and iced drinks were served. Brenda was remember ed with gifts by each of the guests. Mrs. A. M. Copeland Is Honored On Birthday Mrs. A M. Copeland who observed her 85th birthday July 17 was hon ored at the morning devotional pe riod in the Thomwell dining hall. Children from the various homes brought greetings in the form of talks, games and songs. Dr. M. A. Macdonald, president, expressed ap preciation for the long and devoted service of Mrs. Copeland to the in stitution Luncheon Honors Miss Homage Entertaining beautifully at lunch eon Saturday to honor Miss Mar garet Ramage, of Gastonia, Clinton and Laurens popular bride-elect, were Mrs. Frank Ramage, Mrs. A. A. Ramage. Jr, and Mrs Thomas Ramage at the latter’s country home. In the living room gladioli and zinnias in shades of pink were ef fectively arranged. Adorning the ta ble in the dining room where a green and white color note carried out the bridal thertie were gladioli flowerettes used in a wedding nng motif which was also used on small er card tables. .An imported cut work cloth was used over green for the dining table cover.
