WITH DAUGHTER Mrs. Joe Land spent a few days this week in Mullins with her dau ghter, Mrs. Evins Goodwin and family. Mrs. Goodwin underwent an operation on Saturday. Mrs. Grier Todd and Mrs. John Word spent the week-end in Green ville with their sister, Mrs. Van Garrett, going especially to help cel ebrate the latter’s birthday. HERE WITH SON Mrs. Emmie Wingard is spending some time with her son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Win gard. Her daughter, Mrs. Russell « King, and Mr. King of Darlington, accompanied her here recently to spend the day. Friends of Mrs. Geo. Holland will be interested to know she has re turned to her home here following an operation illness and a conva lescent stay with her daughter, Mrs. Joe Hagins, and Mr. Hagins in Ab beville. ' ATTENDS PARENTS DAY Mrs. John Addison spent the week-end with her daughter, Miss Elaine Addison, at Duke University, Durham, N. C.. going especially to attend Parents Day. Mr*. E F. Culbreath of Charlotte. N. C., visited her mother, Mrs. O. I. Sheely, on Friday. McDaniel, Jr., of McCorauck, were guests of Mr and Mrs. N. W. McDaniel on Tuesday. RETURNS FROM KOREA \ Captain Eiberta N. Sease, Army Nurses Corps, has returned to the states after a year and a half tour of duty in Korea. She is visiting rel atives in Freemont, Nebraska, and wil larrive here the latter part of the week to spend some time with her sister, Mrs. 0. C. Woodruff, and other relatives in Gilbert. Mrs. J. H. Donnan had as her guest for a few days recently her niece, Mrs. Glenn Willis of Aiken. RETURN TO TENNESSEE Mrs. Albert Jones and daughter, Ann, of Johnson City, Tenn., spent last week with her mother, Mrs. L. C. Duckett Mr. Jones joined them here for the week-end and accompa nied them home. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Coates and children of Charlotte, N. C., spent the week-end with Mrs. Coates’ par ents, Mr. and Mrs. L. N. Warren. Dr. and Mrs Marshall W. HERE WITH PARENTS Miss Annette Johnson, a member of the freshman class at the Colum bia Hospital School of Nursing, Co lumbia, has been granted a leave of absence from the school because of a recent illness, and will be at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pope Johnson, until Septem ber. Calvert Marsh, principal of the Lower Richland High School in Co lumbia, has been made assistant superintendent of the Lower Rich land school district. Mr. Marsh is a graduate of Presbyterian college and is married to the former Miss Doris Fuller, daughter of Mrs. B. T. Ful ler, and the late Mr. Fuller of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fuller and Mrs. B. T. Fuller were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Blalcok and children in Holly Hill and Miss Neil Fuller in Charleston. While in Charleston they visited the Middle ton Gardens Mrs. C. M. Bailey and Mrs W L Marshall returned Tuesday from a several days stay at Mt. Pleasant with their daughter and granddau ghter. Hemphill of the Univeristy of South Carolia, Co lumbia, was the week-end guest of Dr. and Mrs. Newton B. Jones. Prior to coming to the University to edit the Calhoun papers. Dr Hemphill was editor of the Virginia Cavalcade, a historical magazine, in Richmond, Va. Formerly he was a member of the faculty at the University of Virginia and Emory University. Jimmy Chaney was in Columbia on Saturday evening to attend the Junior-Senior banquet at Columbia College. MOVE HERE Mrs. Sam Plowden and daughter. Mrs. Frances Jones has bee re leased from Blalock Clinic where she has been a patient. Little Jimmy Walker, son of Dr. and Mrs. James L. Walker, under went a tonsilectomy yesterday at Hays hospital. Yong Ki Lee, student at Presbyte rian College, underwent an appen dectomy on the 18th at Hays hos pital. He was transferred to Lesh infirmary Tuesday. Mrs. Jerry Wingo has returned home from Blalock Clinic folowing a few days treatment. Tommy Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Brown, is improving at home following a stay at Hays hos pital, suffering a leg fracture Little Josephine Cannon, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Joel Cannon, un derwent a tonsilectomy at Hays hospital Tuesday. Joyce Keon of the Walhalla chap ter, retiring, president, presided. A devotional presented by the Daniel chapter, carried out the state theme. ’’Understanding Our Neigh bors both at Home and Abroad ’’ The devotional was written by the girls and featured costumes made by them and a few brought from the Orient. Fifty-one girt* participated m th» dress revue, ' Stop the Clock,” mod eling dresses which they had made in class. The chaptiTs entered more cos tume material this year than ever before, which included 52 dresses, 97 home experiences. 48 yearbooks, and 50 scrapbooks.
