Miss Valerie Morse underwent a tonsilectomy last Wednesday at the Icoal hospital. , Joe Purdy has returned to his home after receiving treatment at the Joanna hospital. Steve Holt is recuperaeing fol lowing an appendectomy on Wed nesday at the local hospital Mrs. Texie Johnson of Clinton, received treatment at the local hos pital several days last week. Mrs Leona Bridges was admitted to the Joanna hospital Saturday for treatment. Mrs. Annie Waldrop is a medical patient at Joanna hospital A. J. Tinsley of Kinards, was admitted to the local hospital Mon day for surgery. W. G. (Bud) Carr of Aiken, is seriously ill at the Aiken hospital. CLASS HAS PARTY The senior class of Epworth Meth. odist Church enjoyed a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ross Friday. Thirty-six young people were pres ent for the gathering. Amusing games were led by Mrs. Lavinia Cooley and Fredna Ross. Later in the evening the guests were served hamburgers, chips, cookies and cold dmiks. WSCS TO MEET The Woman’s Society of Christian Service will meet Tuesday night, December 9, in the educational building of Epworth Methodist Church. Mrs. Jessie Prater will have charge of the program, titled “Ev erywhere, Everywhere, Christmas.” The hostesses will be Mrs. Van Godfrey, Mrs. Pearl Wilhams, and Mrs. Polly Brown. AH ladies of the church are cor dially invited to attend. HONORED WITH SHOWER Mrs. Eddie Brown was honored with a pink and blue shower Satur day evening at the club house. RECENT DEATHS Michael Wayne Mills, infant son of Mr .and Mrs. Bernard Mills of Whitmire, passed away last Tues day. He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mills of Joanna. Joel Franklin Sprouse of Laurens, died Friday morning. He was the father of Mrs Carroll Smith cf Joanna. The Christmas party will be held at this meeting , HAS BIRTHDAY PARTY Cathy Vaughn celebrated her fifth birthday with a party at Kindergar ten on November 18. Games were directed by the teachers, Mrs. J. B Mitchell and Mrs Walter Byars. Favors of party hats were given each child present. Susan Vaughn and Kimmett Lee Lott were special guests for the party. Cathy's mother, Mrs. Dick Vaughn, served cake and ice cream for refreshments. Cathy received many nice gifts. HAVE THANKSGIVING SUPPER Members of the First Presbyte rian Church of Joanna enjoyed a Thanksgiving supper at the club house on Sunday evening. The dining room was beautifuly decorated with fall fruits and flow ers which were arranged by Mrs. Frank Simpson. The supper was served buffet style to about 70 members and guests. Rev. William Moerau, Mrs. W E Moreau, Sr., W. C. Baldwin, Dr. Joseph Gettys, Mr. and Mrs. James Von Hollen of Clinton, were guests for the occasion. Rev. Moreau returned thanks. Following the supper a hymn sing was directed by Mrs. Von Hollen in the church sanctuary. Mrs. Elliott Holsonback accompannied on the piano.
