Wingard Speaks On Civil Defense At # Auxiliary Meet Mrs. W. G. King entertained the Amercian Legion Auxiliary mem. bers Tuesday afternoon at her home on East Centennial street. Autumn arrangements featuring chrysanthemums artistically dec orated the home. B. F. Winagrd spoke to the group on Civil Defense. Later during a social hour hot punch, sandwiches and cookies were served. Announcement was made that the group would not meet in December but member? would go one day to the Veterans' hospital to wrap gifts for the gift shop. Assisting Mrs. King as hostesses were Mrs. C. D. Nance, Mrs. Karl k Johnson, Mrs. Lonnie Hiers, Mrs. S. C. Hays, Mrs. B. F. Wingard, Mrs.Thomas Jacobs, Mrs. Carlton Mrs. Thomas Jacobs, Mrs. Carlton Winn and Mrs. Heath Copeland. • » Dessert Bridge Given For Club A dessert bridge was given on Thursday afternoon by Mrs. Tench P. Owens for members of her club. Chrysanthemums were prettily ar ranged as a setting for the two ta bles appointed for refreshments prior to the games. Mrs. Claude Crocker and Mrs. Joe McGee were score prize winners. Party Given Friday For Young Friends Mias Jackie Robbins entertained about twenty of her young friends on Friday evening with a party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Robbins, near here Colorful autumn leaves made a pretty setting for the occasion. Dancing and games were enjoyed and during the evening cold drinks, cake and other party dainties were served. A BfSPW Club Honors Senior Citizens With Tea Wednesday Honoring “Senior Citizens” of the Clinton churches, the Business and Professional Woman’s Club enter tained on Wednesday evening of the past week in the ballroom of Hotel Mary Mtisgrove. Corsages or boutennieres were pinned on the 33 special guests. Mayor and Mrs. Joe P. Terry as sisted the club members in enter taining and Dr. John McSween made a short talk. Ministers of the Clinton churches and their wives were in vited to attend and a number of friends also called during the ap pointed hours. The ballroom was beautifully dec orated with chrysanthemums in bronze and yellow tints, dried ar rangements and lighted tapers. Punch, coffee, cakes, mints and nuts were served. Beaty entertained with a surprise birthday party honoring Mrs. L. V. Powell Tuesday evening. November 11, at the home of the former. Fourteen friends gathered to sur prise Mrs. Powell by singing “Hap py Birthday” when she arrived. Games were enjoyed and later guests were invited into the dining room for sandwiches, cake, mints, nuts and coffee served in buffet style. Crystal holders with white ta pers on either end of the table flank ed white mums to carry put the pink and white motif.
