October 2X 1958 Leaders of Baptist Brotherhood Baptists Of County Association Meet In Two-Day Session l-ttirens—TTie 62nd session of the Laurens Baptist Association conven ed Wednesday - morning at New Prospect Church near here with ap proximately 350 persons attending. The Rev. C. C. Baker, pastor of Warrior Creek Church, delivered the associational sermon, using '•Selling Out Too Cheaply” as his topic. Tlie Rev. Thomas Lawrence of the Union First Church, brought the afternoon message on “Evangelism in World Missions ” New pastors attending the asso- ciational meeting for the first time were the Rev. Paul Sullivan, Mt. Olive; Dr. R. S. Cooper, Laurens First Church; the Rev. Henry Rog ers, Bethabara-Church; the Rev. A. A. Lawson, Harmony; tile Rev. Odis Boiler, Durbin; the Rev. W. M. Ussery, Cross Hill; the Rev. Ted Huckaby, t Bethany; the Rev. Walter Brashier. Welcome. , A report on the Laurens Baptist Assembly at Lake Greenwood was given by Leroy Bums, of Laurens, in which be stated that construction begun about a year ago was pro gressing well. The main building at the assembly ground is about three- fourths completed, 'and with the continued support of the people, the permanent type masonry building will be completed, he stated. Picnic tables have already been placed, and running water is avail able at the tables and main build- in*. ' ,' 1 . /■ Other reports were gvien by W A. Moore, the Rev. J. C. Rice, Jr., the Rev. Kenneth Word, the Rev. J. W. Spillers, the Rev. J. B. Aber crombie, the Rev. A. W. Cop- pedge, and the Rev. R. B Turner. The fpllowing committees were named: resolutions, Mr. Rice, Noel Frady, and M G. Sanders; time, place and p reacher, t h e Rev. Grange Cothran, Paul Riddle, and Dr. Cooper; nominated for standing committees, the Rev. C. E. Price, Fowler Brownlee and Mr. Sullivan. The Association on Thursday te- elected its 1958 slate of officers with the exception of the vice-moderator at the second and final session of the Association held at Poplar Springs Baptist Church near Ware Shoals. Officers elected were: modera tor, the Rev Alvin F. Boone, pas tor of Lucas Avenue Church, Watts- vilie; vice-moderator, the Rev. C. C. Baker, pastor of Warrior Creek Church; clerk. H. B. Monroe of Laurens; assistant clerk, G. B. O’Dell of Ware Shoals; and trea surer, Karl Johnson of Clinton. About 300 heard the doctrinal sermoh by the Rev. A. *W. Cop- pedge, pastor of New Prospect Church A committee was named to in vestigate the costs and needs of an associational missionary. Serving are Dr. Robert S. Cooper, Mr. Cop- pedge, the Rev. J. W. Spillers,, Mr. O’Dell, and Mr. Johnson. Reports were given by Mr. Baker. M. S. Boyd, the Rev. 0. F. Hutch inson, Dr. Cooper, ^rs. McCuen Mr. Johnson, Mr. Monroe, Dr. G.
