Margaret Angela Clem ents, to Mr. Vernon George Ivester, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Ivester of this city. The wedding will take place Sun day afternoon, October 26, at 4:30 o’clock at Broad Street Methodist Church. No formal invitations are being issued but all friends and relatives of the couple are invited to attend the ceremony. Canal Zone Studied By Century Club The Century Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. Bynum Bets on East Walnut street. Introducing a study of Regions Administered by the United States, which the club will study this year, Mrs. R. B. Purdom gave the pro gram on “The Canal Zone and Pan ama Canal.” The program was con cluded with a film portraying life in the Canal Zone and showing work now being done there by the Gov ernment. Legion Auxiliary Sees Fraser Films On Monday evening the regular monthly meeting of the American Legion Auxiliary was held at the Legion Hut. The president, Mrs. Thomas Bald win, presided over the short bus iness session and introduced Dr. Layton Fraser who showed films taken on his recent visit to the Holy Land. Arrangements of fall flowers and dried aiyangemenls were used 00 the mantel and centered the table where punch and cookies were serv ed to the members and their guets. Bridal place cards marked the attendants’ places at the luncheon table overlaid with a yellow cloth and centered with white roses. A four-course luncheon was served. September 27 The lovely double ring ceremony was performed at the home of the bride here. The Reverend J. With erspoon, minister of the Darlington Presbyterian Church, officiated in the presence of a small group of the immediate families. Traditional green and white dec orations were used throughout the home. TTie bride wore a white wedding gown of net over taffeta trimmed with AJencon lace, with chapel length train and veil. v Members of the bride’s family at the ceremony were her mother and father; her sisters, the Misses Helen and Nora Oeland; her aunt, Mrs. John Greg Galbraith of Spartan burg; her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. James McCutchen, also of Spartanburg. The relatives of the groom pres ent were his mather and father; his sisters, the Misses Lillian and Cathy Hart; his aunt, Mrs. Frederick Wy att Shields of Mount Vernon, Vir ginia; and his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. William Carroll Brown of Belton. Mrs. Hart was graduated from Agnes Scott College in the class of 1958. Ensign Hart, a graduate of Mc- Callie and a 1957 graduate of Geor gia Tech, entered the Coast Guard branch of service immediately upon completion of his college career. He is now stationed in Galveston, Texas. Following the wedding ceremony, a buffet luncheon was served the guests. Early in the afternoon the bride and groom left for Greenville where they boarded a plane for New Orleans. The bride’s parents and grand parents were residents of Spartan burg. Her mother before marriage was Martha Wilson Alexander, daughter of the late John Wilson Alexander and Nora Watkins Alex ander. Her father is the son of the late Dr. John Christian Oeland and Ida Moore Oeland. The groom’s mother before mar riage was Lillian Blake Brown, daughter of the late William Car-j roll Brown of Belton, and Lillian Blake Brown, formerly of Char-j lesion.
