Otis Smith and Mr. and Mrs. Jones Wallenzine. Mr. and Mrs. Smith accompanied their guests home Friday and remained for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Evans and Susan, Misses Nancy and Allen Johnson, of Newberry, visited Mr. and Mrs. Walter Johnson Sunday afternoon. Miss Barbara Boyce was a dele gate of St. John’s Lutheran Church to the Luther League convention at Newberry College last week. S-Sgt. and Mrs. Harold L. Gard ner, Ricky and Tina have returned to their home at Fort Walton Beach, Fla., after visiting relatives for thejyille. Kathy and Carolyn were Thursday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kennington in Atlanta. Mrs. Sarah O’Shields, John Earl and Sylvia Metis returned home with them Fri day. Mrs. Frances Warner and Mrs. Helen Waits were guests at the an nual Laurens County Public Wel fare department supper meeting at the Wattsville community building last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Werts and Stevie, of Spartanburg, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Jones Wallenzine. O. V. Hair and Nancy, of Green wood, were Saturday guests of Mrs. W. W. Hair. Mr. Hair also attend ed the baseball banquet at the club house. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bragg and Wilford spent the week-end in Ashe ville, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. T. A Rhoden, of Swansea, visited Mrs. W. W. Hair recently. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Derrick, of Greenville, visit ed Mrs. Hair and family. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Elliott visit ed Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Higginboth am in Anderson Sunday. Mrs. John Burnett, Jr., and Mrs. W. B. Kitchens visited relatives at Lydia Sunday. Mrs. L. J. Black spent the week end in Atlanta with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh E. Brock. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson visited in Greenville Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Lynch. Mrs. Sadie Lewis and Mrs. Mar garet Lewis were Saturday shoppers in Greenville. Mrs. Dan Gunter attended a bridal shower for Miss Alice Henderson at the community building at Clinton last Thursday. Mrs. Clifton Tucker spent several days last week in Atlanta with Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Morris and other relatives. Miss Dianne Longshore is spend ing several days with her grand father, J. C. Longshore in Green- green. Cake squares iced in green, bri dal mints, salted nuts and punch were served by the hostess, assist ed by Mrs. J. K. Waits, Mrs. Frank Simpson, and Mrs. Martha Watts of Silverstreet. \ The bride and groom-elect pre sented their attendants with gfits at this time. Longshore-Heisonback Wedding Miss Bettie Zane Longshore and David Elliott Holsonback were mar ried Saturday, August 23, at tie First Presbyterian Church at Jo anna. i The Rev. Hugh D. Pollard and the Rev. Carl Kessell of Evans, Ga., former pastor of the bride, offi ciated in the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, Ivy Lester Longshore, wore Chantilly lace over taffeta in a ballerina length dress Her finger tip veil was held in place with a tiara of seed pearls and sequins. Her mitts were of Chantilly lace. She carried a bouquet of pink- throated orchids and white carna-- tions. She also wore a strand of pearls, a gift of the groom. i Mrs. Wayne Murphy was matron of honor. She wore pink taffeta made on princess lines with ribbon inserts and tiny bows. She wore a chenille hat with a pink chrysanthe mum on the right side. She car ried a bouquet of pink lilies tied with mint green ribbon. The bridesmaids were Miss Di anne Longshore, sister of the bride, Miss Janice Watts, of Silverstreet, cousin of the bride; and Miss Dixie Couch. Their dresses were identical to the matron of honor’s They car ried pink lilies tied with rose ribbon and wore chenille hats with pink chrysanthemums. The bridal at tendants wore pearl chokehs, a gift of the bride. The flower girls w r ere Vicki Goggans of Newberry, a cousin of the bride; and Jenny Price of Lau rens, niece of the groom. They wore pink empire effect dresses with matching sashes and pearl pendants, gifts of the bride and groom. They carried baskets of red rosebuds. The grooms’, father, Earl Hol sonback, was best man. The ushers were Wayne Murphy, Brent Holsonback, brother of the groom, and Rev. Philip Duckett of Union, brother-in-law of the groom. Miss Miriam Surratt, pianist, and Miss Ethel Rowe, soloist, present ed the wedding music. The church was beautifully de corated with magnolia, fern, white gladioli and pink asters. Seven- branched candelabra flanked the altar. > The couple received thipr guests in |he front of the church. the bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivy Lester Longshore, is a graduate of Clinton High School and is emplyoed by Southern Bell Tele phone Company in Clinton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs Earl Holsonback and attend ed Clinton High School He is serv ing in the U. S Navy at the present time. Mrs Holsonback will make her home with her parents on Pickens street while her husband is on a tour of duty in the Mediterranean. For a short wedding trip to Char leston Mrs. Holsonback changed to a light blue dress and wore white accessories and the orchids from her bouquet. ben enjoyed the occasion. Mrs. John Lewis was honored with a birthday dinner at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, | Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewis, on Sunday, August 24 The bountiful dinner was served buffet style, with the beautiful birthday cake as the centerpiece The cake was white with yellow rosbeuds and green leaves with “Happy Birthday, Mother,’’ in yel low as the decoration. Those attending were Mrs Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. G.
