Little entertained members of her bridge club and additional guests for morning games and luncheon on Thursday of the past week at her home on East Maple street. Garden flowers were prettily ar ranged in the card rooms where three tables were placed for the progressions. Visitors 'high score was made by Mrs. 0. 0. Owens of Moultrie, Ga., who is spending sev eral weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Kobert E. Wysor 3rd. Club prize went to Mrs. R. C. Adair. Mrs. Little’s sisters, Mrs. E. N. Morrow of Lakeland, Fla., and Mrs. Jacob S. Wheeler of Lancas ter, were guests for the meeting. Outdoor Supper For Young Visitor On Thursday evening Mrs. C. W. Hogan entertained with an outdoor supper honoring her brother, Gra ham Farrell, of Aberdeen, N. C.. who is visiting her. Following the supper served to about 25 guests, dancing was en joyed and several games. Prizes of records were given the winners. Late in the evening cokes, nuts and candies were served. \ Church Circle Meets With Mrs. Buzhordt Mrs. James Buzhardt, circle chairman, was hostess to members of the Sarah Glenn Circle of Broad Street Methodist Church at their August meeting Monday evening in the.church recreation rooms. Following the business session, Mrs. C. H. McCrary, Jr., led an in teresting program, taking reports: from a meeting of the Fifth Assem bly of the Woman’s Society of Christian Service held recently in St. Louis. The devotional program was led by Mrs. Bill Abrams. During the social hour the mem bers were seated at a U-shaped ta ble with arrangements of greenery and crepe myrtle with glowing candles in between. A pretty salad plate, ice cream and cake and lem onade was served. Parties Compliment Laurens Bride-Elect Among parties honoring Miss Jacqueline Alexander of Laurens, since the announcement of her en gagement, were a miscellaneous bridal shower and a kitchen show er. Miss Alexander is the daughter of Mrs. Earle B. Alexander, the former Miss Alice Poole, and the late Mr. Alexander of Laurens. Mrs. W. R. Brown, her aunt, of near Clinton, Mrs. W. J. O’Bryant, Mrs. Lewis C. Godsey and Mrs. Jesse Neal were hostesses on Sat urday evening, August 9, at the Friendship room of the Federal Savings and Loan Building for the bridal shower. The kitchen shower was given by Misses Joanne Monroe and Kate Elizabeth Rodgers at the home of the former in Greenwood.. Miss Joann Bonds Feted With Shower Miss Joann Bonds, bride elect of August 23, was given a surprise bridal shower on Tuesday evening of the past week at the Clinton Mills Community House. Hostes ses for the occasion were her ma tron of honor, Mrs. Huey Bonds and her bridesmaids, Misses Mary Keith Adair, Linda Satterwhite, Lena Gilliam, Joyce Ann Todd, Brenda Campbell and Helen Black. Gladioli and roses in pastel tints added to the attractiveness of the receiving rooms. A corsage desig nated the chair of the honoree. Sev eral games were enjoyed after which the hostesses served a salad course, sweets and punch. WPCC Staff Feted With Steak Supper Members of the staff of radio sta tion WPCC were entertained with a steak dinner on Monday evening of the past week at Whiteford's Res taurant. Three out of town guests, mem bers of the board of directors, were present for the occasion: Robert Baker of Gastonia, Robert Hilk er of Belmont, and Norman Young of Concord, N. C. Wysor, Summer flowers in varied array made a pretty setting for the in formal gathering During the party hour cold drinks, assorted sand wiches and cookies were served Bridge Luncheon Friday at Club Friday Mrs. Newton B. Jones, Mrs. George Cornelson and Mrs. Robert W. Anderson entertained with a bridge luncheon at Lake side country club. Guests were invited for morning games at 10:30. Tables were laid for bridge on the porch where bright colored zinnias werte ar ranged with greenery. Decorating the main club room were bouquets of Fantasy zinnias with crab apples on the mantel and asters on the coffee table. As the guests assembled Mrs. Edward Ferguson served punch. Following the progressions lunch eon was served in buffet style in the dining room. Pink roses in a silver container were flanked on either side by pink tapers in triple silver candelabra to form a cen terpiece for the table. Pink and yellow roses wjre combined in ar rangement elsewhere in the dining room. Score prizes were presented Mrs. James Macdonald, Mrs. Reese Young, Mrs. L. H. Lee and Mrs. James Neal. Tuesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Vance entertained with a buffet supper. The supper table was prettily hppoiqted in the dining room with a central arrangement of roses. Covers were laid at small tables on the porch which were adorned with red and yellow zinnias. Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Billy Owens of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. Allen McSween of Greensboro, N. C.; Miss Emily Dil lard of Abbeville; and Dr. and Mrs. C. C. Lyles of Spartanburg. Owens family enjoyed a “spend-the-day” gathering Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Robert S. Owens, with a buf fet dinner being served at noon. In addition to Mr. and Mrs. Billy Owens and their daughters, Mrs. Ben Martin and Mrs. W. M. Scott of Easley, were out of town mem bers attending.
