Pat# Tw* THE CLINTON CHEONICLB 7, IMS King & Sons Gets Contract For Rock Hill Office And Shop Construction of a concrete block office building and a concrete block and steel machine shop for the State Highway Department in Rock Hill will get underway Sept. 4, W. G. King of W. G. King & Sons Con struction Co., said here yesterday. The project will cost $55,000. The office building will be 57 feet, 8 inches wide by 45 feet, 4 inches long and the , machine shop will be 160 feet. 8 inches wide by 41 feet, 14 inches long King said Grover Rogers of Spartanburg, will be the superintendent in charge of construction. City To Enforce Dog Ordinonce Dog owners have been notified that on and after August 15 the city's “dog ordinance” will be en-. forced The Ordinance requires that dogs be inoculated against rabies and wear tags indicating that they have been inoculated. All dogs not wearing such tags on collars must be kept penned up, or be subject to bfing destroyed. Mrs. M A. Wilson, district director, presid ed. The meeting was opened with all singing “America.” Rev. R. J. Wal lace. pastor of Friendship Presby terian Church, gave the devotional. Miss Mary McDaniel gave the wel come. Mrs Annie Cooley, of Lanford, was guest speaker. She told of her recent trip around the world, point ing out some of the highlights of the different countries she visited and their customs. Following the song, “Now the Day Is Over,” club reports were given. -The following clubs gave reports of their accomplishments during the year: Camak, Cross Hill-Mountville, Eden. Hickory Tavern, Sandy Springs, Shady Grove, Shiloh and Trinity Ridge. The roll call by clubs showed an attendance of 37 present represent ing eight of the nine clubs in the district and four visitors. Abbeville lost an exciting game for the championship to Laurens American, 4-3. Abbeville had the bases loaded in fhe final stanza when an outfield hit could have won the game for them. Abbeville defeated Chester, Clinton, Laurens National, and Lancaster to fight their way up to the play-off game In the double elimination tour nament. Newberry, Laurens Driver Examination Schedule Changed A new itinerary schedule for con ducting driver license examina tions in Newberry and Laurens has been announced by Chief Highway Commissioner Claude R. McMillan. Martin left Sunday for two weeks summer training at Fort Jackaon Not attached to the local unit but also training with the 108th "Gol den Griffons" Infantry Division are Lt Col. w. S. Horne and Major W. D. Adair of the Army Reserves. About 3,000 officers and men of the division arrived Sunday. The di vision, which is under the command of Maj. Gen. T. M. Mayfield of Charlotte, has units in the major cities of the Carolinas, with head quarters in Charlotte. During the two-week training pe riod, three regiments of the 106th will be superimposed upon three Ft. Jackson training regiments. In beeping with the division’s mission of setting up basic training facili ties in case ot a national emergeacy, division personnel will observe and aid instructors in actual infantry basic training. Some members of the division will work in their various military occupations with Regular Army personnel while other will attend Mist schools.
