People You Know Items of Interest Concerning Clinton Residents Miss Jane Todd, student at Ers kine College, Due West, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs Hubert Todd Friends of Mrs. J. C. Copeland will be glad to know she is con valescing at home following a two weeks illness and expects to be out in the next few days. Carl Wilson, student at Presbyte rian Junior College, Maxton, N. C., spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard M. Wilson. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Alexander and two daughters, of Newton. N. C., were week-end guests of the former’s mother and sister, Mrs. W. L. Inskeep, Mrs. Weldon T. Jackson and Mr. Jackson. Friends of Louie Thornley will be glad to know his condition is show ing improvement at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia where he has been very ill since being a patient there for the past few weeks. Mrs. Thornley has been in Columbia with him. Friends of Mrs. Frank Cauley will be interested to know she left Satur day for medical examination at the National Health Center, Bethesda, Md. Her sister, Miss Nancy Jo Pruitt, accompanied her. Mrs. P. S. Bradley and grandchil dren, of M'arion, N. C., spent Thurs day with Mrs. Will Lynn. Mrs. J. B. Wilder spent the week end in Spartanburg with her niece. Mrs. J. D. Maher and Mr Maher. Lt Kenneth N. Baker. Jr, of Fort Bragg. N. C„ and Miss Ann Baker, of Limestone College, Gaffney, spent the week-end with their parents. Mr. and Mrs Kenneth N. Baker Mr and Mrs R. P Chapman and C. F. Winn were in Taylors Satur day for the funeral of Dr Joseph Hudgens kB"s R. N. White, of Winston- Salem, N. C., has been spending the week with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. A, O'Daniel. Also spending Sunday with the O’Daniels were Dr. James O’Daniel, of Dublin, Ga , Dr. and Mrs George O'Daniel and fam ily, of Spartanburg, Dr and Mrs. John O’Daniel and family, of Gaff ney. Mrs. Julian Coleman, Mrs. Car- roll Nance, Miss Lois Blakely, ac companied by Mrs. Tom Anderson, of Greenwood, visited the gardens in and around Charleston during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Chetty Griffin and son, Freddie and daughter,""Jan, of Rock Hill, formerly of Roanoke Rapids, N. C., spent Sunday with the former’s aunts, Mrs. Vera White and Mrs. Kate Taylor. Also visiting the Whites during the week end was Mrs. Florence D. Griffin, of Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Chapman and C. E. Winn attended the annual carnival by the S. C. Forty and Eight of the American Legion at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia on Tuesday. Mrs. W. Q. Griggs, of Charlotte, N. C., is spending the week with her mother, Mrs. Metta Stone. Mrs. C. M. Bailey, Mrs. Russell Gray, Mrs. H. M. Wise and Mrs. W. L. Marshall. Jr., returned yes terday from a feiy days stay in Charleston where they visited near by gardens. While away they also visited Mrs. Marshall's daughter, Mrs. Joe Cutchins and Mr. Cutch- ins at the Isle of Palms. Pitts was the week end guest of Mr. and Mrs Carroll Pitts and daughter, Mary, in Spar tanburg. Mrs. W. W. Harris of Sanders- ville, Ga., visited her daughters, Mrs. Lawrence Davis and Mrs. Thomwell Dunlap, on Wednesday. Clinton. Laurens, Joanna. Cross Hill. Wattsville and Whitten Village troops were represented R Michael Turner was camporee chairman and also attending were James Teeter, field executive for the Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts, scoutmasters of the troops, and their assistants. Activities included setting up camp, preparing meals, camp fire songs and contests, identifying birds and animals, crafts, swimming, fishing, canoeing, nature show, and galaxy identification. Church services were conducted on Sunday morning for the group by Rev Giles Lewis. Troop 11- of Clinton was first honor winner and was awarded a blue ribbon. Milford Smith is scout master for this troop and Lonnie Farnell, a star scout, is senior pa trol leader. The award is given for the best camp area and judging is based on layout, cleanliness, scout craft and general participation Troop 194 of Laurens, Richard Clayton, scoutmaster, also won a blue ribbon. Red ribbons, second awards, went to the following troops, which are listed with their scoutmasters 177, Whitten Village, Audrey McCrosky; 174, Clinton, LeRoy Sanders, 75, Joanna. A1 Marshall; 138.
