Mrs. Patterson is a sister of the bride. A Valentine motif was effectively carried out in the decoration for the dining table. A salad course was served to a number of guests in ad dition to the bridal party. Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Harvey of this city, Mr. and Mrs. James M. Berry, of Fork Shoals, assisted in ttye courtesies of entertaining. Julie Johnson Has Birthday Saturday afternoon Julie Johnson invited a few little girl friends to help celebrate her 10th birthday at the Home of her parents, Mr and Mrs. T. C. Johnson. Games were enjoyed and Mrs. Johnson served cake, ice cream and punch to the group. The birthday cake was prettily decorated in red Mrs. Edwards Is Hostess To Guild The Wesleyan Service Guild met Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. L. 0. Edwards with ten mem bers and one visitor attending. ' Mrs. S. A. Pitts, Jr., had charge of an interesting .program entitled “Those Who Serve.’’ The forthcom ing Guild Conference week-end at Orangeburg on March 15 and 16 was discussed. Vespers are scheduled to be held at Edisto Gardens. The nominating committee for next year’s officers was appointed with Mrs. Pitts as chairman, Mrs. L. 0. Edwards and Miss Mary Frances Pinson assisting. The Pinsons Are Given Housewarming Mrs. E. B. Pinson and daughters. A large spray of white satin handmade roses with Chantilly lace leaves centered the heart. The baptistry was centered with a large arrangement of white gladioli and carnations. A program of wedding music was rendered by Mrs. Paul Culbertson, of Newberry, organist, and Miss Marie Weir, soolist. The bride's wedding gown of ehantilly lace and bridal taffeta was fashioned with a lace portrait neckline. The lace extending half way up the skirt in peaks formed a chapel train in back. A net and pearl cap held her fingertip veil. The .MISS JANICE HUMMEL Hummel-Simmons Engagement Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Delk, of Palm Harbor, Fla., have announced the engagement of her daughter. Miss Janice Hummel, to Jack Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Simmons of this city. Miss Hummel also is the daughter of Hal Hummel, of Rogers, Ark. The bride-elect is a native of the Palm Harbor area and was graduat ed from Tarpon Springs High School where she served in the band four years and as a majorette one year. She is a past worthy adviser and a charter and majority member of Palm Harbor Rainbow Assembly. She is employed at Peninsular Tele phone Company in Tarpon Springs. Mr. Simmons was graduated from Hgnored With Dance On Birthday Friday Thad Johnsonr 3rd, was honored on the occasion of his birthday with a dance Friday evening from 8:30 until 11 o’clock in the ball room of Hotel Mary Musgrove. /The ballroom was beautifully decorated in the Valentine motif with cupids, hearts. Magnolia fol iage and berries. Multicolored bal loons were suspended from the cen ter of the ballroom. A heartshaped birthday cake dec orated with white and red roses cen tered the table from which refresh ments of assorted sandwiches, po tato chips, nuts and cake were served in buffet style with punch. Assisting Mr. and Mrs. Johnson in entertaining was Mrs. J. P. Row land. About 40 young people enjoyed the occasion. , , Study Club Has Open Meeting The annual open meeting of the Wednesday study Club’ was held last week at the home of Mrs. J. J'. Jacobs with a number of members and jjuests enjoying the afternoon occasion Serving as hostesses with * Mrs. Jacobs were Mrs. Thornwell Dun lap and Mrs. R. C. Adair. A Valentine theme was carried out in party appointments and red and white carnations were arranged to adorn the receiving rooms. In the dining room a pink motif orevailed. A silver epergne filled with snapdragons and grapes cen tered the lace covered table, dte- freshments were served in buffet style with Mrs. Robert S. Owens pouring coffee. Clinton High School and attended Presbyterian College. He has served three years in the Navy and is on an | overseas Naval tour. Wedding plans will be announced later. Dinner Party By Fellowship Group The Senior Fellowship of the First. Presbyterian Church enjoyed a pro gressive dinner party.on Saturday evening with abqut..J.5..in.em.bexs^9t- tending. The meal began with the serving of juice at the home of Miss Mary Elizabeth Horton followed by the second course at the home of Miss Julie Bolick. Mr. and Mrs. Norman King, adult I advisors, accompanied the group, i Lovely Bridge Party Friday at Hotel A lovely bridge party was given on Friday at the Hotel Mary Mus grove by Mrs. James E. Wolfe, Mrs. J. P. Rowland and Mrs. Frank Cauley. Tables were arranged for the games in a beautiful Valentine set ting. Two cupids held ribbons at ! tached to a large heart on the screen in the ballroom. A red cloth, brass candelabra with red tapers and magnolias with red heart flow er centers adorned one large table while on another pitti'jHjrum and red hearts were arranged on a white cloth. Greenery and berries banked the mantel and the mirrors held | lace edged hearts extending down-1 ward on ribbons. Tallies and other { appointments prpttily carried out | the chosen party theme and center ing the card tables were red mats holding individual heart shaped cups filled with mints and Valentine candies. Foiling the progressions score awards ,were presented Mrs. Hen derson Pitts, Mrs. E A Famell, Mrs. Van Jones and Mrs. L. A Blakely. Later a refreshment plate of heart shaped congealed salad, fancy sandwiches, decorated cakes and other dainties was served. Two out-of-town guests, Mrs. H. H. Wheeler, of Cole Point, and Mrs. Alice Barrow, of Newberry, who is visiting here, were invited for the occasion.
