Martin, and other relatives in Mountville. Mrs. E. B. Sloan is visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Sloan, in Greenville for several days. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Hollings worth, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Thoma- son, accompanied by Rev. and Mrs. P. L. Bauknight, of Mauldin, have returned from a few days stay at Garden City Beach. Miss Mary Ann Neighbors is among Winthrop students who have resumed their studies after a~ few days stay at home. Miss Cornelia Harris, of Colum bia, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. W. W. Harris. Betsy, Molly,' and Johnny Fin ney, of Myrtle Beach, spent the week-end with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Finney. Felknor, of Knoxville, Term., were week-end guests of Mrs. E. M. Felknor, Jr., and Mrs. Frank Miller. Bre\^pF Dixon, of Talladega, Ala., spent several days here this week with his son, Bailey Dixon, and family and Mrs. C. M. Bailey. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Tribble spent several days last week at Emory, Ga., with their son-in-law, and daughter, Mr. and Mrs'. John Cer- ny, who accompanied them home for the weekend. Also visiting the Tribbles were their daughter, Mrs. Edward Wills, and Mr. Wills, of Williamston. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Quinn, of Blacksburg, were their guests on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Whitehead spent the week-end in Easley with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. I. Roy Fennell, Mis Jane Todd, student at Ers- kine College, Due West,-spent the week-end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Todd. * Friends of Kay Frances Rhodes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Rhodes, of Copeland street, will be interested to know she is a patient at Shriners Hospital, Greenville, for treatment. Mr: and-Mrs. Robert G Wrenn, Jr, have returned from their wed ding trip and Mrs. Wrenn is with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. E. Simmons, for several weeks. Mr. Wrenn has returned to his post at Cherry Point, N. Friends of Robert Horton, stu dent at Furman university,’Green ville, will regret to know, he has been ill this, week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Horton. Mrs. P. B. Adair and Mrs. H. A. Copeland, accompanied by Mrs. G. C. Nabors, of Joanna, visited Mrs. E: P. Pratt in Greenwood Friday. Mrs. W. A. Davis, Jr., and Mrs George Sineath were guests Wed nesday of the past week of the former’s sister-in-law, Mrs. J. C. Foster in Charleston. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bailey and daughter, Connie, of Greenville, vis ited their mothers, Mrs. M. Cassa- nova and Mrs. T. L. W. Bailey the past week-end. Mrs. S. B. Loftis and Mrs. W. S. McCoy returned Friday from a week's visit to St. Augustine and Silver Springs, Fla. On Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Loftis, Mrs. McCoy and Miss Nannette Loftis visited Mr. and Mrs. Bill McMurray in Swannanoa, N. C. Miss Ann Johnson, student at the University of South Carolina, Co lumbia, spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. R. W. Johnson., Mr. and Mrs. Callie Gault and daughters, Joy Godfrey and Em mie Ann, of North Augusta, spent the week-end with Mrs. Gault’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ansel B. God frey. Miss Nannette Loftis recently spent a week-end at Mars Hill Col lege as the guest of Miss Hilda League, of Greenville, a second year Student and former roommate, of hers. Miss Catherine Eichelberger, of Columbia, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Eichelberger. Mr. and Mrs.. S. B. Loftis and daughter, Nannette, attended the birthday reunion dinner of Mrs. Belle Waldrop at Campobello on Sunday. Mrs. Waldrop, sister of Mrs. Loftis, was 75 years old. A spe cial service was held at Motlow Creek Church with the family of 12 children and other relatives occupy ing special pews. Friends of Mrs. Elise Spencer Hindman, of Denver, Colorado, will be interested to know she is a pa tent at St. Luke hospital there. He was elected by a vote of fel low members at the regular club meeting on Thursday night. Young succeeds Howard Smith as presi dent for the coming year, and Smith automatically becomes vice- president of the civic organization Jim Von Hollen has been re named by the board j>f directors to his post as secretary-treasurer. Three new members also were named to the board of directors at the Thursday meeting. They are Ed Campbell, W. C. Shealy and L H. Lee. Holdover directors are R W. .Bo land, John Mimnaugh, D. H Rob erts, and D. S. Templeton. The. new president of the Kiwanis club is director of standards at Clinton-Lydia Cotton. Mills, a posi tion he has hold since May, 1949 Before -coming to Clinton he was assistant director of standards at the Bibb Manufacturing Company in Macon, Ga , for 13 years. Young is an actvie church and civic leader. He is a deacon of the First Presbyterian Church and a former president of the Men of the Church. He served as presi dent of the Community Chest of Greater'Clinton last year and as a director of the Kiwanis club. He also has taken a lead in youth work, serving on the board and as an officer in the original Camp- Fire movement in Clinton, and he currently is on the executive board of the Blue Ridge Council of Boy Scouts and is a past chairman of the Laurens District. A native of Macon. Ga., Young was educated in the public^ schools there and at Mercer University. He is married to the former Miss Mil dred Wathleon McClure, of Syla- cauga, Ala , and they have one daughter, Kitty. Roger Poore, of Joanna, a senior has been named cadet colonel of the Reserve Officers Training Corps ROTC at Furman University, Greenville, for the current school year. Bennie Hughey, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Hughey, of Lydia, will serve as an assistant platoon leader in the military unit.
