Murray Sadler, of Donalds, past district deputy of the 11th Masonic district and member of, the service committee,, was the guest speak er, Mr. Sadler is a distinguished Mason and has had wide expe rience in the Masonic field. He spoke of the organization, the be liefs on which it was fodnded, stressing its Christian purpose and compassion. College Receives $2,000 Gift From Esso Foundation Presbyterian College has receiv- «d another $2,000 grant from the Esso Education Foundation, Presi dent Marshall W. Brown announced today This gift is part of a total grant given to 345 colleges and universi ties to assist them during the 1957- 58 academic year u is unrestrict ed as to the manner in which it may be used President Brown was notified of the grant to PC by a telegram from Eugene Holman, chairman of the foundation He stated the pur- pose of the program is to ‘‘give financial aid to the nation's pri vately support id colleges and uni versities so they i may continue to ever Hi standards of modern society ” The present gift represents the tlyrd time that Presbyterian Col lege has received a grant from the Esso Foundation which was estab lished in 1955 by the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey and a group of affiliate organizations * Rev. Cole Returns To Church Of God Here -meet the igher intellectual Rev. J. B Cole, pastor of the -as**? Church of God on Elizabeth street for the past three years, has re turned as pastor of the' church after a four-year absence. Rev. Cole succeeds Rev. C. E Landreth who was pastor for the past sev eral months. Rev Landreth goes to Lancaster where Rev. Cole served for the past 14 months; Rev. Landreth made many friends while in Clinton, and will be greatly missed. * v Rev. Cole invites al his former fnends and friends of the Church of God to the Sunday school and church services. Hipp Honored The annual ladies night celebra tion of Campbell Lodge, AFM, was given on Tuesday evening at the American Legion Home*with bne hundred and ^ninety guests attend- ing. *v / « . A'turkey and ham dinner was served buffet style. Autumn leaves, pyracantha berries, yellow and bronze chrysanthemums with Halloween figures w’ere used in decoration for the occasion. William J Davis, Worshipful Master, presided and extended a welcome to the ladies and other guests.
