Staff At College The Northern District of the Win throp College Alumnae Asscoiation went on record as favoring the re taining of the, home demonstration state staff at Winthrop College in two motions passed at a meeting Saturday morning at the Mary Mus- grove Hotel here. i Dr. Henry R Sims, Winthrop president, addressed the group on the topic. “The Present Menace ^to Winthrop,’’ a discussion in which he explained that the moving of the home demonstration department from Winthrop to Clemson is in vio lation of an agreement made be tween the two institutions in 1914 and effective until the present situ ation developed, beginning in 1955 and recurring in 1957. Mrs Richard F. Jeter, district di rector, presided over the meeting which included representatives from Spartanburg. Union. Newber ry, Cherokee, and Laurens counties. Mrs. Hugh'S Jacobs, was chair man of the hostess committee and gave the welcoming speech. Durnig the business session.
