W. Chandler in Jo anna. Earl Armstrong remains a patient at Hays Hospital. Mrs. Mary Dickerson, of Spar tanburg, spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Hinson and Mr. Hinson. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wallen- zine and son, Smoky, of North Au gusta, spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Mitch ell. Tommy Windsor, of Indianapolis, Ind., has joined Mrs. Windsor here at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Windsor. Mr. T. W. Grace and family, of Pineville, N. C., and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Grace and family, of Honea Path, spent Sunday with the form er’s sister, Mrs. W. I. Their mother, Mrs. George Wade, and brother, George Wade, Jr., were here Monday to accompany Miss Wade home. Mr. and Mrs. W. R Whaylan have returned to their home in Syla- cauga, Ala., after a week’s stay with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Spradley. Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Compbell left recently for Wake Forest, N. C., where Mr. Campbell will be a stu dent at the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Camp bell will teach school this fall. Punch, cookies, cheese biscuits hostess Daughter Honored With Party On Friday afternoon Kathy Camp bell celebrated her ninth birthday with a party at her home. Misses Gail Campbell and Brenda Hawkins assisted Mrs. Fred Camp bell, Kathy’s mother, with directing the games and serving the refresh ments of ice cream, cookies, chips and candy. Kathy’s birthday cake was dec orated with green icing and held nine pink candles. The honoree was presented many gifts from the twenty young friends present. Methodist Women To Meet The Woman’s Society of Christian Service will meet Tuesday evening at 7:30 p. m. at the home of Mrs. David H. Roberts. All women of the church are in vited to attend this first of the fall meetings. Circle To Meet Wednesday The Kathleen Walker circle of the Lydia Baptist Church Woman’s Mis sionary Society will meet Wednes day at 1:00 p. m. at the home of Mrs. C. R. Kuykendall, 280 Locust street. All ladies of the church who are interested are invited to join this circle which meets the second Wed nesday of each month at 1:00*p. m. Party Given For Dnaghter Me. and Mrs. Clarence Rinson en tertained with a birthday party for their daughter, Kay, on her tenth birthday. Reception For Pastor And Wife The new Methodist pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs James Stewart, were welcomed into the community on Saturday afternoon when the W C. S. C. of the Lydia Methodist Church gave a reception in their honor at the Lydia community building. Mrs. E. W Mitchell, president of the W. S. C. S., and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Windsor introduced the guests to Rev. and Mrs Stewart and to his mother, Mrs. W. O. Stewart Guests were invited into the din ing room where punch and cookies were served by Mrs. David H. Rob erts and Mrs. B. R. Boozer. The buffet table was covered with a white cloth and centered with a lovely arrangement of late summer flowers elsewhere in the dining room and the lounge were lovely ferns and other potted plants. Mrs. Stewart was dressed in a pastel blue dress .with white acces sories. She wore a white carnation corsage. Farewell Party For Mrs. Hardee Mrs. Stanley Hardee. Jr, was honored with a farewell party on Friday evening in the social hall' of the Lydia Baptist Church. A large number of ladies were present to bid Mrs. Hardee good bye as she was to leave on Tues day to go to Conway where she will visit her parents until Rev. Hardee begins his pastorate at Thomasville, N.
