M. priests and ministers of both the Roman Catholic and Prgtestant churches. Such proceedings pro voke bur righteous indignation now. But if marked tendencies in this country are not corrected, it may happen here later. There is no immediate danger of communism in this country, but movements which lead to wards it are in marked evidence. A nation does not come to athe istic comifiunism overnight. The movement from recognizing the authority of Almighty God to that of recogizing the authority of a police state is gradual. The first sftep is Cecularism. We thority. The process is gradual, but it is moving piore rapidly than we think. If continued, soon the majority of us will be -so bound to the state that we dare not raise our voices in suggestion or criticism. The government will become the arbiter of our lives. It will no longer be a matter of conscience, of duty to God, but of yielding to the authority of the state. From this stage it is only a step to a police state and if it is run by a well organized atheistic group, then the same thing can happen to church leaders here as is happening in Europe today. Thou shalt have no other gods . “ f ■ A 1 LA 04 ICtlL ilCtVv lit/ vMrllv-1 ire in the midst of that now. Sec-, before Me” is the first and great- ularism places money, the things that money will buy, the achieve ments of science and technology first. When this happens, the call of God, conscience and the church take second place. The next step is State Social ism. We are now going into that. When we forsake, the Golden Rule, “Do unto others as you yould have them do unto you,” and the two great commands of God, Thou shalt have no other gods before Me . . . Thou shalt ovee thy neighbor as thyself,” then We look to the government to provide those things which our own selfishness keeps us from providing for ourselves and oth est commandment. We are vio lating this commandment today more than any other: Many of us are unconscious of it. It is high time for us to take stock and to realize that this nation was found ed as a God-centered nation. Ldbk at the great seal of the United States, the national motto, “I God We Trust.” It is time for America to wake up. That means you and me! MRS. J. F.
