Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bannister and infant daughter are now resid ing in an apartment at 101 West Calhoun street. Richard Mize, of Sarasota, Fla., is visiting his grandmother, Mrs. E. T. Woodruff, and other relatives here. Dr. and Mrs. John McSween left last week for a month’s stay at their cottage at Garden City Beach. Mrs. W. J. Millsaps, of Winder, Ga., was the guest several days during the week of Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Thomason. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jeanes, Jr., and children, of Atlanta, Ga., are visiting the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jeanes. They also had as guests on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Jeanes, of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Benjamin, of Dry Branch, Ga.; Dr. and Mrs. Robert Jeanes, of Easley; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Simpson, of Whitmire. Mr .and Mrs. Auddy Parker, of Charlotte, N. C., were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis H. Bagwell. Ralph Lee Wilbanks will return today to. his home at Isle of Palms after a few days visit with Mrs. J. B Speake, Mrs. J. M. Hatton, Jr., has ac cepted a position with the Ladies’ Ready-to-Wear Shoppe. Mrs. C. A. Reeves, of Honea Path, is spending several weeks with her daughter, Mrs. W. M. Hughes, and Mr. Hughes. Mr. Reeves was also here on Sunday. Miss Frances O’Daniel spent last week with her brother, Dr. James 0,Daniel, and family in Dublin, Ga. Mrs. G. E. McGrew, of Camden, arrived Tuesday fqr a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O’Daniel. Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Harrison va cationed last week in'the mountains bT North' Carotirrar and TeTmesseet visiting Knoxville, Chattanooga. They were also guests of friends in Atlanta for a few days. Larry Mobley, of Red Springs, N. C., is spending two weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Bellingrath. He has been attend ing summer camp at Mondamin camp for boys, Tuxedo, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. McCarty and daughter, Kathy, spent last week in Greenville, N. C\, with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. L Carty. Mr. and Mrs. Courts Redford and sons, Stanley and Steve, formerly of Atlanta, are now making their home in the King Apartments.' Mr. Redford is a member of the Presby terian College coaching staff. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Abbott, Jr., and children, Johnny and Ann, of Johnson City, Tenn., were guests for a few days this week of the latter’s sister, Mrs. W. L. Corbett and Mr. Corbett enroute to Florida. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Pitts, III, of Albemarle, N. C., will spend the week-end with the former’s parents here. KathyJJart, of Joanna^ joined her, aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shields in Mt. Vernon, Va., and is visiting points of interest in Canada. Mrs. Shirley B. Brown, of Colum bia, was the week-end guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thornwell Dunlap. Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Corbett and sons were in Columbia on August 22 to attend the Corbett-Led better wed ding. Jimmy Johnson, of Manassas, Va., is visiting his uncles, J. Henderson Pitts, David T. Pitts and their fam ilies. During the week, Jimmy and Miss Martha Pitts were guests of his aunt, Dr. Elizabeth Johnson at Winthrop College. Mrs. George R. Holland, Mrs. J. P. Prather and Mrs. Joe Land have returned from two weeks stay in Swannanoa, N. C., because of the illness and death of their mother, Mrs. F. A. Buchanan. Mrs. Joe Land was in Augusta yesterday to visit her brother, W. A. Buchanan, who is a patient at the Veterans Hospital where he under went an operation. Miss Martha Pitts leaves Sunday to resume her teaching position in Rock Hill. Mrs. K. R. McMaster, Jr., and children, of Winnsboro, are visiting her mother, Mrs. Hugh Simpson Major and Mrs. Ned S. Hays and children are visiting his mother, Mrs. C. W. Stone and other rela tives here. They will leave Friday to return to their home in Raleigh, N C., where he is on the military staff at North Carolina State College. They have been in Texas for the summer where Major Hays was sta tioned at Lareda. - Mrs. E. A. Famell, Jr., and chil dren have returned from a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Le roy Mikels in Stroudsburg, Pennsyl vania. Mr. and Mrs. Mabry McCrary, Miss Grace Beckett, of Vineland, N. Stanley Hardee, Jr . who has served as pastor of the Lydia Baptist Church for the past four and a half years, will conclude hjs work this Sunday. He has accepted the pastorate of the Filst Baptist ~T in four public feeding demonstrations ... In recent months, four public feeding demonstrations were conducted at sales yards in Indianapolis, Ind., Norfolk, Nebr., Louisville, Ky., and Evansville, Ind. In each test, twenty head of steers were sorted evenly into two £ota. All cattle were fed the same basic ration with just one difference: one lot at each location was fed a single- source protein supplement, while the other lot in the split test re ceived Purina Steer Fatena with ' stilbestrol. Length of feeding varied between 100 and 140 days ... for an average of 125% days. The gap between market price and feed cost was $20.33 wider per steer in the Steer Fatena groups (average), than for the cattle fed single-source protein. In addition, the Steer Fatena cat tle put on each pound of gain with an average of only 7.46 Iba. of feed. This is more than 2 lbs. less feed than the U. S. average! (See chart above.)
