The wedding will take place in June. Club, Guests Are Entertained . , Entertaining members of the Wednesday club and other guests Mrs. Eugene King and Mrs. Alex Cruickshanks were hostesses for a bridge party last week at the home of the former. Roses predominated in the flo ral arrangements throughout the card rooms. Visitors’ score prize went to Mrs. J. P. Rowland and club high to Mrs. L. N. Warren. Consola tion went to Mrs. George Frady. Surprise Party- Honors Mrs. Thornton Honoring Mrs. Fleming Thorn ton, Mrs. James W. Walker, Mrs. C. W. Wise and Mrs. Wyatt Led ford entertained with a party and shower on Thursday evening at the Walker home. Mr. and Mrs. Thornton are moving this week to Pickens to make their home. During the evening guests were invited into the dining room where buffet refreshments of assorted cookies, nuts, mints and cold drinks were served. A beautiful centerpiece for the dining table was fashioned'of roses and other early summer flowers shading from pale to deep pink. Arrangements elsewhere 4n the home included roses, daisies and mixed bouquets. Mrs. Thornton was remembered with a number of gifts. Bonk Entertains Graduating Class Members of the graduating class of Clinton High School were en tertained on Thursday evening by M. S. Bailey & Son Bankers with a ‘'Bermuda Hop” at the American Legion Home. 9 From eight until 10:30 dancing was enjoyed to music toy the Three Kings. Decorations featured red roses, white larkspur and daisies to carry out the school colors. . Bank employees assisted in en tertaining and serving sandwich es, punch and cookies during the evening. In addition to the seniors, W: R. Anderson, superintendent, Mrs. Anderson. G. N. Foy, assistant su perintendent, Mrs. Foy, R. P. Wil der, principal, Mrs. Wilder and the class sponsors were invited for the occasion. Wednesday Club Is Entertained Mehibers of her Wednesday bridge chib were entertained the past week at the home of Mrs. L. A. Blakely on Hickory Street. Admiral Byrd daises added at tractiveness to the card rooms where two tables were placed for refreshments. Before cards a des sert course was served. High and second score awards went to Mrs. W. M. McMillan, a club vistlor, and Mrs. Frank Cauley. Carolina Wren Club Has Picnic Monday Monday afternoon members of the Carolina Wren Club enjoyed a picnic at the home of Mrs. George Watts Copeland. When members assembled a short busimess session was held and later the picnic supper served. Officers of the club for the com ing year will be: President — Mrs. George Watts Copeland. Vice President-r-Miss Margaret Blakely. Secretary - Treasurer — Mrs JSimes Bass. Entertain Jointly ' At Luncheon \, A ' one o'clock on Wednesday by Mrs. Newton B. Jones and Mrs. John W. Stevenson at the Jones home on Elm Street. Covers were laid for the guests at small tables placed in the living room, porch and den. Tiny bou quets of sweet peas in pastel tints centered each table. A central ar rangement for the buffet luncheon table in the'dining room was fash ioned of daisies accented with yel low lilies and dahlias. Sloan was program ]eader and discussed a chapter from the study book, "Jesus and Good Citizenship.” A social hour followed* the program and the hos tesses served sandwiches, chips and cookies with iced drinks. The group presented a gift to the president, Mrs George Bryson who will be leaving soon to make her home in Marshvliie, N. C. use the picnic grounds. They also expressed their appreciation for the cooperation of city authori- tica in assisting with the project by clearing and other help. Mrs. Von Jones Heads Sunbonnet Club; New Members Welcomed The May meeting of the Sun- bonnet Garden Club was held at the home of Mrs. George Belling- rath on May 27. The president, Mrs F. V. Smith, presided. Four new mem bers, Mrs. Harry P Lawman, Jr., Mrs. S. P. Bowers, Mrs. A J. Thackston and Mrs. Edward Pur- don, were welcomed. The club voted to move the Gardeh Center from Belk's to the waiting rooms of the hospitals where flowers will be arranged The members will also place flowers once a month at M. S.
